Welcome!

Meet the new Florida PTA President-Elect,

Jude Bruno

Our new President-Elect, Jude Bruno, is a Miami native and a proud product of our public school system, bringing over a decade of PTA/PTSA experience to the role from all levels of our association. The former labor organizer will take the helm of Florida PTA’s Advocacy Commission this term, supporting strategic planning, legislative, outreach, convention preparations, and serving as the Bylaws Chair.

After a fun-filled summer this year, Jude is particularly excited about his oldest starting middle school and his youngest starting pre-k—though his son isn’t quite as thrilled yet. With a middle schooler, every day, Jude is adjusting to her needing to be ‘very demure’ just mere minutes before leaving for school while he’s trying to be ‘very mindful’ of Miami traffic. Additional reports to the state office indicate that the family dog, Mello, is also adjusting—he isn’t exactly enjoying the extra walks now that both kids are in school.

Jude’s goal for the Advocacy Commission is to engage more deeply in transformative experiences with members and partners, staying true to our mission of making every child’s potential a reality. If you attended our Leadership Convention, you’d have heard him joke that his PTA journey started with a fierce determination to sell the most World’s Finest Chocolates at school. Still, his commitment to protecting our community schools and welfare children keeps him going.

As we enter September PTA Membership Month, it’s crucial that we all hit the pavement hard to recruit new members to join our mission.

You can connect socially with Jude on TwitterLinkedin, and Instagram using the handle @JudeBruno. Jude can also be reached via email at president.elect@floridapta.org

We’re still trying to convince this millennial to get more involved on TikTok; after all, he is the youngest of the group, and we’re trying to one day go viral (for the right reasons), so stay tuned! Wish us luck!

Elections & Resolutions

National PTA has partnered with Nonprofit VOTE to produce several resources around the election for our members. View this page on the National PTA website for helpful information such as timelines, guides, webinars, and additional resources.

National PTA encourages PTA members form across the country to engage with their communities about registering to vote and the significance of the voting process.

A resolution is an original main motion that is brought forward at convention because it addresses an issue of nationwide concern related to the education, health, safety or welfare of children and youth, or parental education and family engagement. A resolution outlines action and is submitted in writing. For more information about Resolutions and how to submit one, please view this page.

The deadline to submit a resolution to National PTA is October 15th at 11:59 PM.
