When we first started using smart locks, I had a bias towards lock brands, like Kwikset, Schlage and Yale, instead of ones from smart home companies.
In the beginning there weren't many to choose from anyway. The August smart lock was a big clunky thing that attached over your doorknob. We had the Kwikset Kevo, which worked great at first but then became pretty slow and unreliable over time.
Eventually we upgraded to the Kwikset Obsidian on our front door and kept that sleek Z-Wave based lock for years.
While we still love and recommend the Kwikset locks, we have been pleasantly surprised by the locks from eufy Security. Mark just installed our second one, the new E330, and it is just as quiet and reliable as the S330 we have been using since last March.
And it's not just a smart lock - it's also a fully-featured smart video doorbell with a 2K camera built-in. You can unlock it with the app, your fingerprint, a code, a hidden key, or your Apple Watch.
And, like all eufy smart cameras, it doesn't require a subscription to use.
eufy's numbering system can get a little confusing, but it seems the major difference between the two is the separate chime on the S330. The new E330 also seems to be missing the loitering feature that plays a message when someone is hanging around too long. Mark likes to record that in a funny voice, so I won't be missing that too much.

What do you think? Do you have a smart lock? How do you like it? We'd love to hear from you.
