Dear Friend,

Today is National Decision Day , and all of us at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy are celebrating our college-bound seniors who are accepting offers from colleges near and far.

Earning admission to college is an extraordinary achievement for our students, especially for those who will be the first in their families to graduate high school and pursue higher education. It's a reminder to me that anything is possible when potential meets opportunity and all of us work together to get our students to succeed.

Our students' achievements also reflect their immense talent and determination. There is Angel, who was accepted to Cornell University, Vassar College, John Hopkins University, and other top schools. He'll be the first Camino Nuevo student to attend Dartmouth College in New Hampshire on a full scholarship! There is Wendy who was weighing offers from 20 colleges and has decided to go to the University of California, Irvine. Her family has endured challenges, but she is determined to make them proud and "show them that it was all worth it."

Many admitted students who have suffered a loss of family income due to job losses are facing uncertainty about their academic futures. To help make college a reality for our students , Pueblo Nuevo Education & Development Group and Camino Nuevo Charter Academy are awarding $96,000 in new scholarships to 44 graduating seniors this year, including seniors who are enrolling in vocational programs after high school.

These scholarships are also renewable for four years as our alumni continue through college. This year, with the generous support of our donors, we also expect to award just over $400,000 in scholarships to 162 alumni to help offset the costs of continuing their postsecondary education.

Of course, the achievements of the Class of 2020 would not be possible without you -- the professionals who walk the hallways and classrooms of our eight schools. You helped our seniors reach this day by nurturing their talents and building their confidence from an early age. Thank you for motivating them to dream big and take risks.
