One of our students wanted us to write about animal and angel cards and how they compared to the Ouija board. This is a great topic because they are two different things and should not be confused.
First, some are afraid of using card decks because they feel they are associated with the occult, like the Ouija board. I have not used a Ouija board and have no plans to. Also, some call card decks tarot cards but that is simply a name. And because the word tarot is often associated with the occult, that can also "conjure" up negative feelings towards cards.
In order for a Ouija board to really work, you have to call upon 'something' to come through to guide your hands to make things actually move (not faking it) on the board. First, the average person just "allows" it to happen, which means anything or anyone could come through, benevolent or not. Secondly, for hands to move, generally then you are allowing this "something" to come through your body so it can take action.
When you work with animal or angel cards, big difference. First, you are specifically setting your intention and calling on animals or angels to guide you, and they are benevolent. Secondly, you are intuitive - you have learned to use your intuitive abilities. This means that when you ask for them to guide you when picking one card or doing a spread, they are not entering your body and choosing cards for you. You are simply stating your intention for guidance. You are in control of your own hands.
Know that when you allow anything to come into your body to speak or act through you, this is called channeling. Some clients think when we talk to animals, we are channeling them. While the outcome may be the same - information is received, it is not the same because it is a totally different process. Channeling should not be confused with speaking to animals. The animals are not actually entering our body. We are receiving messages from them
telepathically - mind to mind. This is what makes it an intuitive connection. This is what makes working with animal and angel cards an intuitive connection. (Now Allison and I have channeled angels and St. Francis but this is something we trained on how to do. It is not something that someone should do on their own without guidance because of the very nature of what channeling is.)
So playing with a Ouija board and using animal and angel cards are two very different things. If you have had a fear of using the cards, hopefully you can put your fear aside. Why? Because you are in control of this benevolent, amazing and beneficial experience.
The animals and angels are here to help guide you on your journey and want to assist you. All you have to do is ask for their help.
