Residency Oral Competitions Update

Please review the information that has been published about the Oregon ACP Abstract Competitions this year. They are taking a new format with critical deadlines – competitors will not be able to simply show up to compete in the poster competitions. We want everyone to be successful – please reach out to the office if you have questions.

For Oral Competitions: at the annual meeting, there will not be a “battle of the residencies” style oral competition. Oregon is currently exploring other ways to offer a similar competition in the future, at this time we are unable to do so.

OR ACP Summer Newsletter

Governor's Message

Dear Oregon ACP Colleagues and Friends,

Belated spring and summer greetings! It’s been too many months since I’ve shared an update on Chapter activity. There is a lot worth sharing! See updates on the Chapter below.

I hope the summer months have provided you some time with family, a chance to slow down and get time outdoors, and a reprieve from our dark months. It’s so necessary to take time off even knowing how tough things can get when staffing is thin. Take the time! None of us are meant to run on fumes. And if our work isn’t set up for us each to be able to take a real break, that’s a systemic problem that can and should be fixed.

Call for Abstracts

2024 Oregon ACP Poster Competition

The Oregon Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) invites you to submit abstracts for the 2024 Oregon ACP Poster Competition, which will be held on Thursday November 14th, 2024 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Portland Lloyd Center. The poster competition is a chance for you to showcase your research and clinical work to your peers and mentors and receive feedback and recognition.

Register Here

To submit your abstract, please follow these steps:

  • Prepare your abstract according to the guidelines and format listed at the top of the Oregon abstract submission form
  • Submit your abstract electronically by September 30th, 2024 at 11:59pm PST. Only abstracts submitted using the online form will be considered.

All abstract submissions will be accepted and displayed at the poster competition.

Please note that the judging process for the poster competition has changed from previous years. In the past, all abstracts were judged live in the first round, and the top 10% were selected for the second round. This year, the first round of judging will be performed asynchronously to determine the top 20% of abstracts (or a minimum of 5 entries in each category, whichever is greater) that will be judged live at the event and eligible for advancement to the national competition. The rest will be displayed without formal judging.  This change is intended to reduce the workload for the judges, shorten the competition length, and to allow more time for feedback and discussion. Posters that are not selected for live judging are still eligible for other recognitions. We strongly encourage all submitters to attend the poster competition, and other educational and networking events of the 2024 Oregon ACP Chapter Meeting. For more information about the meeting, please visit the Oregon ACP website.

If you have any questions about the submission process, please contact office@oregonacp.org for assistance.

Information about the National Abstract Competition is available at the link below.
