The Snack has been singing our praises! The Snack’s Peggy Packer reported how Limoneira’s worldwide growth has made its One World of Citrus™ a global success! Our Alex Teague, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Limoneira, revealed some impressive stats as well!
He said that Limoneira has grown from 5,000 acres of farming, with packing and selling just over a million cartons of lemons alone, to now over 15,000 acres of farming worldwide with seven million cartons of lemons, oranges, mandarins, limes, grapefruit, and specialty citrus being distributed!
Teague continued, “Over our 128 years of existence, we have discovered that teaming up with other producers who have a similar philosophy has really benefited not only the fruit we grow, but the fruit of our associate partners all over the world.” As the One World of Citrus™ program continues to evolve, Limoneira has expanded the supply around the world—including conventional oranges, lemons, Mandarins, grapefruit, and limes—fulfilling our vision of being a 52-week specialty citrus supplier.
Furthermore, Limoneira has broadened its geographical footprint with the addition of partners and associates in Chile, Mexico, South Africa, and Argentina, as well as a new sales office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to better serve customers in Asia in real-time. We are so excited about Limoneira’s well-planned and aggressive growth, and we love making our Limoneira citrus available all over the world!

Did you know that before Limoneira – approximately 128 years ago, 95% of lemons were grown in Italy? Given the Mediterranean climate in Ventura, co-founder Nathan Blanchard, traveler and businessman, brought some lemon trees back and partnered with Wallace Hardison, oil and gas man, to create – the land of lemons, or “Limoneira” in Portuguese. Not only was growing lemons a novel idea then but so was providing housing for those who worked here! Our very own Alex Teague shares Limoneira’s unique history and how his family’s great-great-grandfather worked there at the age of 23 years-old, and we love how Alex continues the tradition today! It starts with a drawing – typically a very unique, fun design that is then translated into actual cornfields. Rows of corn are then designed to mirror this exact design so that visitors can be delighted and amazed while traveling within the cornfields. It is such a wonderful experience!
