NEW DATE ANNOUNCEMENT: Thursday, September 26

Welcome to Our New Board of Directors Members!

The Chamber’s fiscal year kicked off on August 28th with a planning retreat for the Board of Directors. During the meeting, we thanked outgoing board members Jennifer Brens and Phil Bukowski for generously sharing their time and talents with us for the past six years.

We also welcomed three new dynamic board members. We look forward to their valued input!

Steve Boje is the founder and owner of Boj-E-Bikes, an electric bike showroom in downtown Batavia since 2021. As a retail shop owner, Steve brings firsthand knowledge of the issues our retail and small businesses face to our Board. He is also a recent recipient of the Chamber’s Grow Your Business Scholarship.

Brian Lawyer is the branch manager of BMO on Wilson Street in downtown Batavia. He is the treasurer of the Batavia Business Exchange referral group and often attends our ribbon cuttings to support the business community. A resident of Batavia and a fan of history, Brian also serves on the Board of Directors for the Batavia Historical Society.

Bill Pellico brings a different set of skills and knowledge to our Board. He is the director of the Illinois Accelerator Research Center at Fermilab. He worked with the Chamber on a Tech Hub grant and is now collaborating with the Chamber, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and fellow board members Brian Knetl, Waubonsee Community College, and Tom Kim, Batavia Public School District on workforce development issues. He, too, is a Batavian, and is an avid bicyclist who used to serve on the Batavia Bike Commission.

Complete the Batavia Business Pulse Survey

The Batavia Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Batavia and Batavia MainStreet to conduct an important Business Pulse Survey. We recognize that our business community has opinions and suggestions and we want to hear them.

The survey was emailed to you on September 5, 2024 at 12:15pm from the email account noreply@qermailserver.com. Please check your spam folder if you have not seen it. If you did not receive the survey, contact Anthony Isom at aisom@bataviail.gov.

Your answers will help us understand how we can help your business thrive. Your answers will also assist us in marketing our city to future residents, visitors and other business prospects.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Batavia Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Margaret Perreault, or City of Batavia Economic Development Manager,

Anthony Isom, Jr., aisom@bataviail.gov, 630-454-2720.

BSNF Railroad Work to Close Wilson and Prairie Crossings

The Wilson Street and Prairie Street railroad crossings will be closed to traffic from Saturday, Sept. 14, through Monday, Sept. 16. This closure is necessary for Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway to perform essential repairs on the rail tracks, railroad ties, and crossing surfaces.

Motorists and residents will still be able to access their homes and businesses using alternate routes, but crossing Wilson Street or Prairie Street at the railroad tracks will not be possible during this time.

Please plan your travel accordingly and follow the detour routes.

Eastbound from downtown Batavia: Turn left (north) on Route 25, right (east) on Fabyan Parkway, right (south) on Raddant Road, and then left (east) on Wilson Street.

Westbound on Wilson Street toward downtown Batavia: Turn left (south) on Raddant Road, right (west) on Pine Street, right (north) on Prairie Street, left (west) on Webster Street, then right (north) on Route 25 and finally left (west) on Wilson Street. See the detour map here.
