Back-to-School Information

August 2, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare to embark on another exciting academic year, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome back to all our students, families, and staff. I hope this letter finds you refreshed and ready for a successful school year ahead.

Over the summer, our dedicated team has been working diligently to ensure that our schools are ready to provide a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for all our students. We are committed to providing a high-quality education that meets the needs of all our students.

Preliminary student achievement data from the 2023-2024 school year indicates our students are learning at high levels.  Students exceeded state proficiency averages in 19/20 assessment areas (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) and the percentage of students scoring proficient or higher increased in 15/20 assessment areas.  86% of our Advanced Placement students earned a “3” or higher on AP exams.  We will continue to emphasize the importance of foundational academic skills and maintain a targeted instructional focus on the skills of the Science of Reading, writing, and mathematics.

A key to our students’ success is their involvement in clubs, programs, and teams beyond the classroom.  A number of opportunities exist for students to be involved in their school and we encourage students to be involved beyond the regular academic hours.

We believe that strong partnerships between schools and families are essential for student success. We encourage you to stay involved and engaged with your child’s education. There will be numerous opportunities for you to participate in school events, volunteer, and provide feedback throughout the year.

As we begin this new school year, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can make this year a memorable and successful one for all our students.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your school’s administration and continue to monitor your email, our website, and social media channels for additional information.  We look forward to a fantastic school year ahead.

Thank you,

Shawn Haughn

Superintendent

Final Forms Need Completed & Up by August 16th

Please complete or update your student’s forms no later than August 16th. If you have a NEW student or a student who will be issued a Bloom-Carroll email address for the first time, those students will be able to log in and sign their forms at school at the start of the new school year. It is necessary for the forms to be updated and signed every year.

INSTRUCTION:

  • Login to Final Forms (www.bloomcarroll.org)
  • If you do not have an account, create a parent account.
  • Complete forms (new students) or update existing forms (current students) with any information that may have changed since last year.
  • If you do not remember your login information, click on the “Forgot Password” link. You must use the same email address that you used to sign up initially. If you do not know that email address, contact our IT department at 740-756-9798.

Upcoming Kindergarten Assessment Appointments

Our new kindergarten families will receive a Class Dojo invite from their teacher. This invite will be through email and/or text message. Families will need to accept the invite from Class Dojo to view the name of their child's teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Accepting this invitation will then trigger an email or text to be sent to each family with their child's assessment appointment date and time.

Kindergarten School Bus Safety Program

The BCLSD will be hosting their Kindergarten Bus Safety Program on Wednesday, August 14th at 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Bloom-Carroll Elementary School.

Email transportation @bloomcarroll.org through August 13th to register your student. (This program is for BC students only who are entering kindergarten.)

Keep Up With Your Student's Progress in the Classroom

ProgressBook is an online system that allows parents and students to view grades, attendance information, class lists, class schedules, and more!

To set up a NEW ACCOUNT: Contact our IT Department at mark.thomas@bloomcarroll.org. Make sure to include the student's name, grade, your first and last name, and your relationship to the students. Once this information is verified, login instructions will be mailed to you.

  • BCHS & BCMS students will be able to view their homeroom assignment and course schedule.

  • K-5 students will be able to see their teacher assignment.
