Christal Yu, BMCC ’21, went from a Hunter College drop out to a fellow at the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute. Now, she studies human services while balancing fighting food insecurity with the CUNY Student Food Navigator Program and working in the world of Muay Thai. Having lived experience in resiliency through mental illness and hitting rock bottom, Christal brings her heightened drive and compassion to community empowerment.
Christal's advice: "That voice in your head saying “I can’t/what if/I’m not ____ enough”? Give that rude voice a name and uninvite them; that’s not you! Recognizing that we control our thoughts, emotions, and lives is extremely powerful."
