One Year Later, Pandemic Fear Completely Erased at Bloom Senior Living Communities. Introducing New (& Broader) Indoor Visitation Rules For Licensed Communities!

It was March 8, 2020 when COVID-19 arrived and Bloom Senior Living’s Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care communities locked down to keep residents safe. Visitation and group programming stopped, residents spent more time in their suites than enjoying Bloom’s onsite amenities and tours were suspended. Certain actions of a small number of purported substandard nursing homes were used to push media ratings and offer a different view than what was transpiring in communities like Bloom.

At Bloom, the communities and residents navigated the past year -- keeping physically safe and still emotionally blooming -- knowing there would come a day when we’d be back to the Bloom way of life. Today, the Bloom communities and residents are no longer navigating! Bloom residents are back living with peace of mind consistent with Bloom’s aspirational mission of helping seniors flourish!

All Bloom communities are fully open. All communities completed their second vaccination clinic, and more than 95% of the residents are vaccinated. The communities relaxed restrictions and safely reopened for group activities, community dining and programming, resident and family outings, indoor and outdoor visitation from family and friends, tours, and so much more. The residents are back to enjoying the onsite amenities and services Bloom offers, including chef-prepared meals in the elegant dining rooms, happy hours and hangouts at the fire pit, exotic excursions, art classes and so much more! Bloom has been safely welcoming new residents and families for months without incident.

Following federal guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services applicable to nursing homes, the states, which oversee our licensed assisted living and memory care communities, have started issuing post-vaccine visitation guidance. Bloom is excited about this progress, since we've been advocating for the same.

Now that we're beyond vaccination and the states have issued new rules, Bloom is able to start doing much more open visitation. We're including a table below to update Bloom's indoor visitation rules, and will continue to update as states continue to release guidelines. Hugs and kisses here we come!

State Guidance For Indoor Visitation In Licensed Bloom Communities:

Effective March 24, 2021

Indoor visitation permitted

Indoor visitation permitted for all residents, regardless of vaccination status of the resident or visitor, unless certain scenarios arise, which we'll notify you about

Scheduling (through our electronic system) no longer required

Indoor visitation broadened to include resident suites as opposed to designated areas. State guidance still requires restricted access throughout the community

Indoor visitation limited to two visitors with resident per suite

Bloom will try to safely accommodate meals with residents. Contact the community, in advance, if you would like to dine with a resident during your visit.

Indoor visitation permitted Monday – Sunday, hours 9:00am – 7:00pm

Visitors subject to Bloom’s infection control procedures, including screening, hand hygiene and face coverings

If Bloom personnel isn't available, visitors are required to take their temperature (with Bloom thermometer provided) + complete the screening and sign-in sheets upon entry

Skype sessions, through Bloom's electronic system, will continue for the time being
