Would this make you mad?
What if you had the opportunity to TRIPLE your pay increase (your raise) without working longer hours?
HUH?
Get this, if you work in Douglas County you make on average an additional $1,635 for a horizontal raise (for 15 credits to move a lane). If you plan to work for 3 years as a teacher but think you can't afford a class, that means you left $4,905 that your district would have paid you. The classes ($1,500) and 15 credits ($800) would be paid in a year or a year and a half.
It gets worse, if you plan to teach for 10 years, you are skipping so much money, you leave a whopping $16,350 behind.
If you work in Jeffco and you plan to work 3 more years you need to consider that your horizontal raise is $2,249. How much left on the table? After 3 years you would have received $6,747 but if you skipped class, your district didn't pay you. After 10 years you would have made $22,490.
If you work in Denver Public Schools you would make an additional $3,226 for one lane change. If you will work for 3 more years you would make an additional $9,678. Anyone who skips taking classes is leaving too much money behind. The class is paid in one year of the raise but your lane change pays you exponentially for as long as you are teaching. If you get your a lane boost you would have made $32,260.
If you skip class, you leave money on the table.
