Road Trip Rules and MarKraft News
Are We There Yet?

Next weekend, I'm going on a family road trip. Our daughter, Jenson, graduated earlier this month from Laney High School. We'll be taking her to High Point University for summer workouts as an incoming freshman on a basketball scholarship.

Our road trip "rules" include loud music, peanut M&Ms, and a cup of ice to help keep me alert. My son and two girls are long past the infamous "Are we they yet?" stage, but it got me to thinking....

Road trips are an escape from the everyday - there's a sense of freedom and adventure, and the satisfaction of arriving at a final destination.

Life and business, on the other hand, work a bit differently. At MarKraft, we're proud of our record as a service and installation company, but are we 'there' yet? Never.

There's always more distance to travel, more territory to explore. Joe and I recently identified a need in our organization - we've grown to a stage that demands one person solely focused on the operational side of our business. We're pleased to announce that we didn't have to look far to find the ideal person for that seat.

And now? Buckle up...we'll be revving our engines for the next leg of MarKraft's incredible journey.

Oh, The Places We Go: MarKraft Names David Talley COO

We are pleased to announced that, effective immediately, David Talley
has been appointed Chief Operating Officer, a new position within MarKraft.

MarKraft believes in investing in the development of our own employees, and we knew that David, who previously ran MarKraft's Nashville, TN division, would be the ideal leader for the role of COO.

David spent years in the industry as an installer and initially joined MarKraft in that capacity.  He later moved into a position as an Account Rep for builders, and then took on the role of General Manger for our Nashville location.  Under Talley's leadership, our Nashville team grew from 4 to over 30 employees, and sales increased by 450%. David also helped us outfit a new showroom and grew our warehouse facilities from one building to three.

David and his family have officially made the ultimate road trip - moving from their home in Nashville to the Wilmington area. David and his son used to race BMX motorcyles, but now that he's closer to the water, David says he just may have to trade in a few of those cycles for a boat!

Please join us in congratulating David on his new role and welcoming him to Wilmington. Both Joe and I  are confident that David's leadership abilities will take the company to its next phase of operational excellence as a service and installation company.
Frommer's, Fodor's, and Wilmington Magazine -
MarKraft Wins Best Of Wilmington Once Again!

Frommer's, Fodor's, Lonely Planet, Rick Steves, and even Zagat - they're all resources for where to find the "Best Of" in any given destination. The best lodging, best sites, best restaurants, and best shops. But, let's not forget Wilmington Magazine!

Each year, Wilmington Magazine devotes an entire issue (July/August) to the Best Of Wilmington. MarKraft is delighted to report that we've been voted by Wilmington Magazine readers as the  Best Kitchen & Bath Store again this year - our second win in a row!

Thank you to all who voted for us; it is an incredible honor!

On the Road (and the Golf Course) Again....

In the Pixar movie, Up, Ellie says: "Adventure is out there!" It sure is, and the team at MarKraft always finds it.  Here are some of the adventures we've had in recent weeks:

Apex
  • April 28th: We participated in the Carolina Preserve Spring Vendor Fair. Carolina Preserve is an active adult community located in Cary, NC.
  • May 7th: Designer Jennifer Bedick (right) and other members of the Apex team, participated in a golf outing at Hope Valley Country Club with The Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties.  A portion of the golf outing proceeds benefited  the Professional Women in Building Scholarship.
Wilmington
  • May 17th: We braved the rain and participated in the Cape Fear Home Builders' Spring Hammer & Nails Golf Tournament at Cape Fear National Golf Course in Brunswick Forest. Our golfers included:  Cee Edwards and Bryan Sartin (MarKraft), Steve Swain (Coastal Cypress Building), and a 'hitchhiking' golfer we picked up on the course!

It Doesn't Matter Where You're Going:
It's Who You Have Beside You.

At MarKraft, we believe in surrounding ourselves with the best talent on the market. We're delighted to announce that the following people have joined our growing team. Welcome - we're glad to have you along for the ride!

Wilmington

And, We're Currently Hiring Installers in All Locations!

As our new COO, David Talley said: "I love mentoring cabinetry installers and helping them excel at their craft. One of my first initiatives will be to hire and develop additional installers for all of our markets.
I encourage anyone with the right skill set to reach out to me."

Wish You Were Here...

We work hard to make our showrooms as pretty as postcards, but seeing them in person is truly the best way to enjoy them. So hop in the car and head on over...we promise to greet you with MarKraft hospitality and a refreshing, cool beverage.
