The Winter Wahoo Championship has come to an end, and it all came down to the final weekend of the tournament. On Saturday, "Easy Fix" weighed in three fish, a 93.3 lb., 73.0 lb. and 70.8 lb., for an aggregate total of 237.1 pounds which catapulted the team into first place to take the win for 2019!

Congrats to "Easy Fix", "Cash Call", and "Tu-Nacity" for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and all the teams that competed this year!
The Learning Curve
Written by Captain Troy Day
As we grow nearer to the season kicking off, I thought it would be interesting to break down the numbers of billfish released the last 10 years during our yearlong Club Awards Program.  I reviewed only the season long points that were turned in, and The Lone Star Shootout results are not included in these totals as it was more consistent to look at an entire season, not one weekend with highly concentrated effort.  The number of boats each year are only those which turned in billfish release points to the Texas awards program.  2015 data was not available.

From 2010 to 2013, there was an average of 1.1 to 1.4 blue marlin per boat, then from 2014 to 2018, that average has hung around 3 blues per boat.

Whites and sails together have ranged from a little over one per boat in 2017 to over 6 per boat in 2011 and 2012, right in the middle of the seasons that were slow for blue marlin.

Clearly, we've had some pretty good blue marlin fishing the last 3 years.........wonder what this season will bring?
