CHERISHING THE ONE-RING CULTURE
After last year's brutal winter, we've been blessed with a mild winter here in Virginia. For the first time in ages, I found myself competing at our indoor shows to get my young horse going before I sent him to Florida for the month of February.

Returning to the winter shows reminded me of what keeps me in the sport - the importance of relationships, not only with the horse but with the people that are involved in producing an exhibitor-friendly and quality event.

I enjoyed these one-ring shows and watching all the horses compete and make progress with each class. And I had time to visit with trainers, exhibitors and managers. Although I'm fortunate to be in Florida, I miss the "one-ring culture" that I so enjoyed in January.

Our feature article in this newsletter explains our merger with Marshall & Sterling, which has allowed us to offer more products to meet the demands of our clientele. Our service remains client focused and much like the one-ring horse show, a characteristic we will always strive to maintain.

If you have any questions about our merger with Marshall & Sterling and the additional services we now provide, please don't hesitate to contact us!

JOINING TOGETHER TO OFFER YOU QUALITY INSURANCE PRODUCTS AND SERVICE
Superior Risk Management Tailored
to the Equine Industry
If you're one of those detail-oriented types, you might have noticed that the EMO Agency, Inc., logo evolved a couple of years ago. A small line was added underneath that reads: A division of Marshall & Sterling Insurance.

That small but important line of type represents a milestone for the EMO Agency, Inc., which was established in 1983.

Marshall & Sterling purchased EMO in late 2014 to expand its equine and farm insurance services. In return, EMO clients also benefit through sharing the expanded leverages provided by the Marshall & Sterling Insurance Agency, which was founded in 1864 and employs more than 450 people. Marshall & Sterling provides a vast array of insurance products, from commercial, municipal, personal, life, business and financial to equine and farm coverage.

"Being a division of Marshall & Sterling allows EMO agents to write different types of policies, expands our offerings and benefits our clients because we'll have other markets in which to place risks," said EMO's E. Sue Bopp, who noted, for example, that EMO wrote the insurance policy for the Longines LA Masters international show jumping event in California in concert with Marshall & Sterling.

While Marshall & Sterling has been involved in equestrian sports for decades--and is the well-known sponsor of the popular Marshall & Sterling League for Children's and Adult riders--their recent acquisition of EMO expands their visibility in the equine insurance industry.

"The combination of the Marshall & Sterling and EMO team offers a superior level of risk management tailored to the unique needs of the equine industry," said Donald C. Graves, vice president of Marshall & Sterling Insurance and director of the Equisport and EMO divisions. "Our menu of services, our staff's grasp of the equestrian world and our broad geographic footprint, coupled with 153 years of insurance expertise, means we serve as a valuable resource for all our clients' needs."

Bopp continued: "EMO is under the Marshall & Sterling umbrella now, and we're pleased with the partnership we've established in just a few years. For the typical EMO client, very little has and will change. Our Warrenton, Virginia, office staff, underwriters, agents and producers remain the same, and our clients will receive the same great service they've come to expect. It's really a win-win for everyone, and we look forward to further expanding our offerings and services in the future within the Marshall & Sterling family."
