NEW BAPTISMS!

Matt & Karmin Olds |
Congratulations to Matt & Karmin Olds who were baptized Sunday, February 12th. Please welcome them to the KCC family! Pray for Matt & Karmin as they strive to walk closer with Jesus Christ, their Lord & Savior.
The Bible says in Matthew 28:19, 20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Baptism is a step of salvation we encourage anyone to take if t
hey haven't already.
Peter preached the first Gospel sermon on the day of Pentecost and once the people understood that they were responsible for nailing Jesus to the cross, they cried out, "what shall we do?"
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38)
If you've been considering this step of salvation contact the church office to talk with one of the ministers or Elders about it.

THIS SUNDAY AT KCC!
Sunday marked the half way mark for our series through Philippians. At the end of chapter 2 we read about Paul's feelings toward Timothy and Epaphroditus. The point of the message is that we need to create an environment in which kids consider ministry as a profession like Timothy and that we ALL are to be ministers of the Gospel like Epaphroditus.
This week we look at a passage about trash with a message entitled, "It's time to take the trash out." Bring a friend and join us on Sunday. ~ Andy B.

Life Is Brighter With The Son

Last Sunday was snowy. It was blowy. And it was cold. Immediately following church, I went home, got into some cozy pajamas and snuggled up with a blanket in front of the fireplace. I hadn't seen the sun in what felt like forever, and it was just a pj kind of day. Imagine my delight when I woke up on Monday to a very rare thing in northern Michigan winter....THE SUN!!! I was instantly in a good mood. My cold symptoms that had been dragging on for weeks, suddenly weren't bothering me as much. I knew it was going to be a great day!
Living without Jesus, can feel a lot like a Northern Michigan Winter. It's dark. It's miserable. And things feel hopeless. We still face trials and troubles with Jesus, but life is so much better with the SON!
Last Wednesday during Octane, the 4th and 5th grade youth group, we learned about Paul and Silas. In Acts Chapter 16, The Bible says that before they were put in prison they were beat without mercy. I can't imagine how they must have felt. They were trying to spread the word of God, and they were being persecuted. Once they were thrown in prison, what do you think they did? Cower in fear? Cry because of the pain they were in? Complain about the shackles that were on their feet? I know that I would probably do all of the above. But not Paul and Silas. Paul and Silas were praying....Now I know I'd be doing that! But they were also singing hymns to God. I'm not sure I would be in a praising mood, if I had just been beaten and thrown into a dark cell and shackled up.
It makes me think of the song by Casting Crowns, Praise You in this Storm.

Casting Crowns - "Praise You in this Storm"

It is so hard when we are going through rough times to remember to not only pray, but to praise! We worship a mighty God and life is so much brighter with the SON!

KIDSTUF is THIS SUNDAY at 11:00am in the Lower Level
for all kids Kindergarten through 5th Grade!
In
Mark 6:30-44, we see how Jesus' care for others turned into one of His most amazing miracles. Jesus reached a point in His ministry when He was extremely popular. Everyone wanted to hear what He had to say about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, thousands of people showed up to hear Him speak. As it became later in the day, Jesus could have sent them all home to grab some dinner, instead He made the unthinkable happen. He turned five loaves of bread and two fish into a meal for more than 5,000 people.
Bottom Line:
Give to others who are in need. As we start to see others the way God sees them, we will become more aware of their needs. We have opportunities everyday to help others and meet their needs. This can be as simple as lending a pencil to a friend or offering to share part of your lunch. It's amazing how kids will start to show love to others when they become aware of the needs around them.
