April 2024 News & Updates

Norton Construction Update

We are so grateful to our numerous sponsors, community volunteers, and all who have contributed their support to building our Norton home. March was a very busy month installing drywall, roughing in the plumbing and electric, installing the decking and interior trim. During April, we are busy priming and painting the interior walls and installing the flooring and cabinetry. To view our Build Sponsors, click here.

“I very much

enjoyed the time getting to know the folks at Old Colony Habitat for Humanity. It was a great day and I was very happy with how the painting came out. Also, it felt really good to be helping out the family that will be moving into this home in the early summer. Very happy to have been a volunteer.”

Highlight on Volunteer Appreciation Month

We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Neil Rodin during National Volunteer Appreciation Month. Neil's dedication extends beyond the construction site as he consistently embodies Habitat for Humanity's values of community, empowerment, and service. Not only does he contribute his skills and labor for families in need, but he also actively engages with volunteers to foster teamwork and educate them with new skills during their volunteer time. Neil’s positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine compassion leave a lasting impression on everyone he encounters.

“When I retired, I was looking for rewarding ways to give back. I was aware of Habitat for Humanity and supported its mission of creating affordable home ownership for worthy families. This is my second build and I enjoy, appreciate and learn from the people I work with. I also like working with volunteer groups that often return to builds and are dedicated to our mission.” ~ Neil Rodin

As we celebrate Neil's invaluable contributions to Old Colony Habitat for Humanity, we are reminded of the profound impact that volunteers like him have on creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Neil's selfless service and unwavering commitment serve as an inspiration to us all, and we are incredibly grateful for his dedication to building a better future for families in our community.
