How does this affect you?

If you offer a CDCA Preliminary “bundle” please update the education grid (example above) to allow for learners to document the free course from eBased Academy. You are not required to reduce or alter your current hours, however the one-hour course from eBased Academy will account for one hour of ethics towards their application requirements.

Updated Ethics 4758-8

Courses focused on ethics in SUD treatment, clinical supervision, and prevention should review these updates to ensure course material reflects the most recent Codes of Ethical Practice and Professional Conduct.

CE Broker Approved Education Providers Renewal Policy

One and two-year Education Providers receive a reminder notice from CE Broker 90 days prior to their expiration date allowing them the opportunity to renew their Provider Status early. If an Education Provider chooses not to or fails to renew their Provider Status prior to their expiration date, there is a one-year grace period in which they can renew their Educational Provider status. (Educational Providers cannot provide board approved CEUS during this one-year grace period without renewing their status).

To provide board approved CEUS after the one-year grace period has ended, a new application for Provider Status must be submitted. This application will include submission of continuing education courses under Sponsor status until 50 hours of approved coursework within the previous three years as a Sponsor can be demonstrated.

Beat the Stigma

The Board is emphasizing Recovery Ohio's effort to reduce stigma as a barrier to people accessing needed services. We are asking education providers to review their content and make adjustments where possible to eliminate language stigmatizing to people with substance use and mental health challenges.

As primary sources of education for emerging SUD treatment professionals, we hope you will consider the impact of how language impacts attitudes toward the people your audiences will serve.
