In the Christian life it is important to have both also. Are you most known for your defense or offense of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Hopefully this " OFFENSE OR DEFENSE" email newsletter will be of great
encouragement
to you personally
DEFENSE:
Defending our faith comes with the territory in the world we live in that is often opposed to Christianity
1 Peter 3:15
, which says that believers are to make a defense,
"for the hope that you have."
The only way to do this effectively is to study the reasons why we believe what we believe. This will prepare us to "
demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ,”
as Paul said we should (
2 Corinthians 10:5
). Paul practiced what he preached; in fact, defending the faith was his regular activity (
Philippians 1:7
).
OFFENSE:
The Word gives great insights into being on the
offense in the spread of the Gospel
*Please note some of the key words in the following verses on how to be on the OFFENSE...
PRAY
BE ALERT
SPEAK
EVERY OPPORTUNITY
RIGHT ANSWER
"Be persistent in prayer, and keep alert as you pray, giving thanks to God. At the same time pray also for us, so that God will give us a good opportunity to preach his message about the secret of Christ. For that is why I am now in prison. Pray, then, that I may speak, as I should, in such a way as to make it clear. Be wise in the way you act toward those who are not believers, making good use of every opportunity you have. Your speech should always be pleasant and interesting, and you should know how to give the right answer to everyone."
Colossians 4:2-6
