Custom Framing

Sometimes, the most amazing works of art are hiding in cedar chests, boxes, albums, etc.  Family heirlooms and mementos can make amazing and unique works of art when handled correctly with a creative eye.  At M2 Gallery, we take pride in preserving, protecting and presenting your treasured items in the best manner possible.

Maybe It's Time to Kick Your Glass

On a recent visit to a client's home, I noticed an amazing (and extremely valuable work of art) hanging on the wall.  Upon closer inspection, I noticed several problems.  First, and most obvious, were the mats on the work.  They were extremely yellowed -- a sign of an acidic matboard which can cause damage to the artwork.  The other problem was the noticeable fading of the artwork.  Many people don't notice this fading over time, but to a trained eye, it is very obvious.  Museum glass today blocks 99% of the UV rays.  Most glazing options used 10 or more years ago is probably in need of inspection, and possible replacement.  Don't risk damage to your valuable works!  Bring it in for us to look at.

Left shows an image as it looked originally.  Right shows how UV light damaged the piece over time (both natural and artificial UV light).
