“What Lies Beneath:
Geologic Abstracts”
Carolyn Land - ART EXHIBITION
October 1-30, 2018
“What Lies Beneath: Geologic Abstracts”  are a group of paintings from my  “Circle of Life”  series which celebrates the natural function of the world: to change, grow, and evolve. It is a journey into what lies beneath the surface of the earth and pays homage to nature. I wanted to get below the surface of the daily life, the seen and the unseen. The thought process moves through the corridors of time in our geologic history.
Exhibit Opening
Saturday, October 6th
Founders Gallery 4-7pm
Artist Talk - 6pm
" When I get deeply involved in a project I go someplace so far from the everyday world, that it becomes a form of meditation. "

FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Greetings to Our Hub on Canal Supporters

We depend on our members and are always striving to deliver greater value for your membership dollar. With that in mind, we are pleased to roll out new and improved member benefits on October 1st. You'll get the same event discounts you've always received and going forward members will now also enjoy preferred pricing on our workshops. I'm happy to say that we'll also offer member appreciation events on a roughly quarterly basis. There's much more to make a Hub on Canal membership the best deal in town. Click on the link below to read the whole story. If you're a member, thank you. If you're not, click on the link and become one.

One of our new, expanded member benefits is early access to tickets to The Hub's annual gala, An Affair of the HeART. Our gala in 2018 was the event of the social calendar. It's successor on March 9, 2019 will be no different. Members will get first crack at the limited number of tickets. We sold out pretty quickly last year. You won't want to risk that happening for the upcoming event, so join now if you are not a member. Watch for our save the date announcement soon. In the meantime, polish your dancing shoes, practice your daiquiri making, grab a cigar and binge watch I Love Lucy .

Richard England, President

ARTISTS' CORNER
Hub artist Cathy Berse toured Cuba in September. It's a place in many ways stuck in the late 1950s. Her images perfectly captured scenes that are simultaneously old and current. Experience Cuba yourself on March 9, 2019. Stay tuned for details.
