Canoeing the Mountains: Christian Leadership in Uncharted Territory | |
Maumee Valley Presbytery invites you to “Canoeing the Mountains: Christian Leadership in Uncharted Waters,” with author the Rev. Dr. Tod Bolsinger on Saturday, October 7, 9:15 AM, at First Presbyterian Church of Sandusky, 265 Jackson Street, Sandusky.
Dr. Bolsinger draws a stark comparison between the leadership style many churches use and the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1804:
“The story of the Corps of Discovery is the driving metaphor for our present moment in history,” Tod writes in his book. “In every field, in every business, every organization, leaders are rapidly coming to the awareness that the world in front of us is radically different from everything behind us.”

Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants
| |
Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Grand Rapids, MI, is offering grants to worshiping communities. The grants are especially focused on projects that connect public worship to intergenerational faith formation and Christian discipleship, a theme that can unfold in many facets of worship from Bible reading to preaching and listening to sermons, public prayer, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, congregational song, visual arts, storytelling, and more.
Calvin Institute encourages grant proposals developed through a collaborative process from emerging and established churches; seminaries, colleges, and schools; hospitals, nursing homes and other tax-exempt organizations. The deadline for grant proposals is October 15.
