The LibrarEvery Vote Counts buttony has served as a polling location for Washington Township for a number of years.
As the time for elections draws close, we generally get questions about voting and the elections.  What is the number one question we get? Where is my polling location?
There are some truly wonderful resources online to help you prepare for Election Day.
At the Indiana Voters website: www.indianavoters.in.gov you are able to: register to vote, confirm your registration, find your polling place, and get a list of who will appear on your election ballot.

Election Day is November 4th!

In order to vote on that day, you must be registered to vote. The last day to register is Monday, October 6th. If you aren't registered, be sure to
do that today.
A printable registration form can be found here or you can visit the Clerk's office.
The Decatur County Clerk's office can assist you Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The Clerk's office is located in the Decatur County Courthouse building, Suite 244. You can reach them by phone 812-663-8223 or via email: clerk@decaturcounty.in.gov

"Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is
by not voting."

Did you ever wonder...

If there were any famous people
born in Indiana?

Well, there were! Quite a few, as a matter of fact. While you might have known that Michael Jackson was born in Gary in 1958 and that David Letterman was born in Indianapolis, and graduated from Broad Ripple High School and Ball State University. Did you also know that he first hit the airwaves as a college intern at the microphone of WTRE in Greensburg?

Other famous Hoosiers include:

Florence Henderson
Born in Dale, IN in 1934, Florence Henderson was one of 10 children and the daughter of a tobacco farmer. She is an actress and singer best known for her role as Carol Brady in the television program The Brady Bunch.

James Dean
Born in Marion in 1931, James Dean spent much of his adolescent life with his aunt and uncle in Fairmount, Indiana. After graduating from Fairmount High School, he went on to study drama at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is most famous for his role as Jim Stark in the film Rebel Without a Cause, which many consider to be the first film to seriously address the phenomena of teen angst. Dean died in 1955.

Steve McQueen
Born in Beech Grove, in 1930, he was the ultra-cool male film star of the 1960s, and rose from a troubled youth spent in reform schools to being the world's most popular actor. Over 25 years after his untimely death from cancer in 1980, Steve McQueen is still considered hip and cool, and he endures as an icon of
popular culture.

Shelley Long
Born in Fort Wayne in 1949,
her role as Diane Chambers in the wildly popular 1980s sitcom, Cheers, earned Shelley Long an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress. Her acting career began in Chicago when she was a member of the Second City troupe. She also wrote, produced and co-hosted a Chicago magazine program called "Sorting It Out." Her movie credits include Irreconcilable Differences, The Money Pit and The Brady Bunch Movie.

This information was found on the in.gov/visitindiana website. Click here for more information on famous Hoosiers.
