Bingo Bash Event Recap

Our 3rd Annual Bingo Bash is in the books – with record-breaking attendance and funds raised! Thank you to everyone that helped make this event a raging success!

Nearly 300 guests gathered to support Avondale House and enjoyed exciting rounds of Bingo hosted by our wonderful co-emcees Briana Conner and Adam Winkler of ABC13.

Thanks to your generous support, Bingo Bash raised over $130,000 for the expansion of our programming and services, allowing us to continue to increase the number of individuals with autism that we serve. Wow! Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this possible. We can't wait to see you there next year!

Bike to the Beach Event Recap

Bike to the Beach was a great success as many individuals completed their 100, 50 or 25 mile rides from Houston to Galveston for autism and disabilities! We are so thankful for our amazing riders!

Even though the race is over, it's not too late to donate to our team and show your support.

Donate to Team Avondale House

Run for a Reason with Avondale House

Walk or run with Avondale House! We are recruiting participants for the We Are Houston 5k, Aramco Houston Half Marathon & Chevron Houston Marathon on January 14 & 15, 2023.

Not able to participate but still want to support Avondale House? Make a donation to our Run for a Reason team, and contact Kylie at kylieh@avondalehouse.org to inquire about cheering us on or volunteering at one of these exciting events.

Warm up for the big race by participating in Alex's 5K on Saturday, November 5. A portion of the event's proceeds are donated to Avondale House, and it will be a load of fun for the whole family!

Hear Our Voices, The Embracing Autism Evening

Save the Date! Hear our Voices will be taking place on Friday, April 14, 2023. Chaired by Ashley and Christian Nelly and Emily and Allen Capps, this is an event you won't want to miss!

Newest Addition to our Board of Directors: Binita Patel

We'd like to give a warm welcome to Binita! We're so thankful for her support of Avondale House.

Binita is the Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Memorial Hermann Health-system. She is responsible for pharmacy services across the continuum of care which spans 15 acute care hospitals, 10 + service lines, home infusion pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, and 2 retail pharmacies which equates to over 700 FTE. Binita also is the program director of the Health-system administration residency program. Prior to joining Memorial Hermann Health-system, Binita was a senior director at Pharmacy Healthcare Solutions where she focused on specialty pharmacy and PBM practice. She currently sits on the SPPL Committee on Multi-Hospital Pharmacy Executives at ASHP and was one of the co-authors for the latest AJHP Forecast. Binita recently won Women Who Mean Business in Healthcare and Texas Medical Center Hero due to her efforts to fight COVID-19.

Spotlight: AmeriCorps Member Program

This month, we welcomed our AmeriCorps program members. Members will serve Avondale House adults and students through the implementation of healthy living activities. The primary focus of these activities will be on assisting with adaptive recreation, gardening, and cooking skills in our School and adult programs. These activities will enable Avondale House clients to practice and incorporate healthy habits in ways that meet each individual where they are developmentally and physically.

September Team Member of the Month: Allison Boswell

Allison was Avondale's September Team Member of the Month!

Allison's coworkers say:

"Allison is always a joy to work with as the BCBA in the school. In her short time with Avondale House she has shown much knowledge and care for her profession. She is always smiling, attentive and willing to assist at all times. She always has an answer for your question and if she doesn’t she is willing to find that answer for you. Allison really cares for the staff and clients at Avondale House."

"Allison is a great person for the TMOM, fun and knowledgeable to work with. She always helps out when we are shorthanded, and she is advanced when getting her paperwork done! I love working with Allison."

We are so thankful for her hard work and passion for serving individuals with autism. Congratulations!
