Community Engagement: Have You Seen Us in #Cfield?

Movie Night with

Chesterfield County

Animal Services


Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation hosted a movie night featuring The Secret Life of Pets 2. Chesterfield County Animal Services cohosted and promoted their adoptable pets. They brought three available dogs to the event for a furry meet and greet.


The event hosted 800+ movie goers that enjoyed a beautiful night with their families.

Chesterfield After Hours

Concert Series


The Chesterfield After Hours concert series season wrapped up with Gin Blossoms and Sugar Ray on Sept. 9 and the final concert featuring Kidd G scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29.

Community Partner Supports School Supplies Drive

Launch Richmond with mascot Joey stopped by the Beulah Recreation Center recently with a donation of school supplies.

Department staff will inventory and distribute the supplies to local schools. We are grateful for community partners like Launch who support youth development.

Clarendon Park Playground


A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Clarendon Park on Tuesday, Sept. 19, for the opening of new playground equipment and other site improvements.


The Honorable Chris Winslow, Board of Supervisors, Clover Hill District, led the ceremony. Neil Luther, Director of Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation, spoke about the playground project at the opening, as picture below.

Denim and Diamonds Dance


Stonebridge Recreation Center held its first evening 50+ dance on Friday, Sept. 15 from 5-8 p.m. 


DJ L.T. Holmes filled the room with disco music. Attendees showed up decked out in denim and shiny attire.

Department Brings Home Statewide Award

Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation honored

at the VRPS Annual Conference

Judged by a jury of its peers, Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation received an award for the Best New DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Initiative for Youth Unity Day from the Virginia Recreation and Park Society (VRPS).


Youth Unity Day was held May 14, 2022, at Bensley Park and included a park clean-up and community art project. The event offered a platform for youth voices and celebrated diversity in the county. Parks and Recreation collaborated with the Youth Citizen Board on the initiative.


The award was received by Marlie Creasey-Smith, Assistant Director of Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation, pictured.

Trail Closures at Government Center Trail System

Portions of the Government Center Trail are closed due to construction. View the map above for exact locations. Areas outside of the marked locations of the trail are open for use.

The next meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, 6 p.m. at the Beulah Recreation Center, 6901 Hopkins Road, North Chesterfield.
