October Newsletter

Dear MMAMTA Members,

Thank you to all who came out to welcome our new members, Dr. Curtis Pavey and Dr. Helena Hyesoo Kim at MMAMTA’s Potluck event on September 16th.  Their presentation on Communication Practices was revelatory – if you had to miss the event, the Powerpoint is attached*. (EDIT: I could not attach PDF, however you can download it from this webpage: https://www.mmamta.org/news.html )

Save the Date: Saturday, August 17, 2024 for a Fall Workshop with Kevin Olson!  Working out the details, but the MMTA Matching Grant is submitted and we should know if we received funding for the event at the MMTA Board Meeting in November.

A big thank you (and Congratulations!) to Nancy Dreier, who yet again organized the MMTA District IV Auditions, held on September 23 at the MU School of Music Fine Arts Building.  I spoke with the judges, who were truly impressed by the level of pre-collegiate performance in mid-Missouri!

Congratulations to all participants, and good luck to all who passed to the State Auditions, to be held November 1-5 at University of Missouri – Kansas City.  Remember that the registration deadline for pre-collegiate students who received a I rating, and for collegiate auditions is October 9th.  Registration information (as well as information on hotels and parking on campus) can be found on the missourimta.org website.
