Fall 2023 Breeder Trip

Every year, the owners of Companion Pets Inc. make trips to visit with breeders in the midwest as well as attend conferences on animal care.

These trips give us the opportunity to meet new breeders, build relationships, inspect kennels and dogs, and learn more from the leaders in the industry that are innovating and improving standards in animal welfare and canine breeding.

We were delighted to see how much the Canine Care Certified program is taking off and are proud to see many breeders taking the extra steps and investments to reach this level of care!

The CCC Program is based on standards developed and led by Dr. Candace Croney, Ph.D. at Purdue University. Consumers and pet owners can be assured that dogs and puppies raised by the program’s certified breeders are cared for under stringent standards. Read more about the Canine Care Certificate here.

What do you get when you cross a French Bulldog with a Mastiff? These beautiful, chunky Frenchie Mastiff hybrids with overall better health and very trainable temperaments, weighing 50 lbs. on average.

Marion Nisley (Canine Care Certified) and his family kennel specialize in this very intentional hybrid. The puppies from these parents are in stores now!

We assume a lifetime responsibility for every puppy we send home. Our Homes for Life program is the result of this commitment and our dedication to preventing pet homelessness.

We understand that for unfortunate and unforeseen reasons sometimes customers who purchase our puppies can no longer care for them. For this reason, our customers agree to relinquish the dog to us, not a shelter.

We do this to ensure that we can find them a new, loving home but first provide them with the rehabilitation and care that they may need in addition to a neuter/spay as part of our commitment to responsible pet ownership.

Kobe's parents are OFA tested in congenital cardiac diseases, patella luxation, hip dysplasia and legg-calve-perthes disease.

King's parents are OFA tested in thyroid disease, patella luxation and congenital cardiac disease.

Meet Khaleesi and see why she is so charming!

This stunning Alaskan Malamute is a sweet and spirited girl! Though it didn't work out in her previous home, we know all she needs is some structure. Anyone who knows the breed knows that she will thrive with the right environment. She loves people and is super silly and playful. She is friendly with other dogs in general but would need to managed around food/high value toys/treats to live with them.

Khaleesi will be free to the RIGHT home,

she needs to be loved by a good family!

Who We Are
If you're new around here, please watch our newest introduction video that illustrates our mission, values, how we care for our puppies and our quality breeders:
To ensure that all of our puppies find homes in a timely manner, we reduce their price as they age.

By no means are we lowering the cost of these puppies because they are in any way less valuable, but it’s our mission to find each of our puppies a permanent, loving home as quickly as possible.

Please contact us about this male Mini Bernedoodle by calling Animal Kingdom Arizona Mills at 480-831-2877.

They make my life better by just being themselves. When I have had a bad day they just know how to put a smile on my face.

Recently awarded Phoenix Best in the Valley for Pet Sitting, Hand & Hound is a great resource for pet owners needing extra exercise and enrichment for their pets or coverage while traveling!

At Hand & Hound, they strive to get to know pet owners and their pets as if they were their own while also incorporating professional standards, such as Pet First Aid + CPR training.

They know how hard it is to trust whoever is coming into your home and caring for your pets, so every sitter is expected to be fully transparent and communicate all details to pet owners, through a mobile app that has GPS-verified reports.

BUYERS BEWARE
ARIZONA RANKS HIGH ON BBB'S LIST OF PUPPY SCAMS COMMITTED IN 2022
In the last few years, online pet scams are on the rise and have caused grief for people seeking new pets, with little to no recourse for the victims.

According to the Better Business Bureau, Arizona is at the top of the list for puppy scams per 100k people.

California is the state with the most reported puppy scams, with 167 scams reported to the Better Business Bureau from January 1, 2022 to October 31, 2022. This makes up more than 10% of the total number of scams reported nationwide.

Read more about this study from the last year here.
SPOTTING A SCAM

If you are looking for a puppy, be careful & remain vigilant!

Here is how to spot a puppy scam online from AKC:

  • No phone calls. The seller prefers to handle communication by email and not the phone. A reputable breeder will always communicate with you via phone or video chat (if not in person) before selling you a puppy. Fraudulent sellers are oftentimes outside of the U.S. and may be hiding their phone number by only communicating by email.
  • Copycat or stock photos. Photos of the dog or ad text can be found on multiple websites. Search for the text or reverse image search the photos on Google to find out if they were copied.
  • Sketchy payment. The seller asks for wiring of money or payment by gift cards. Be aware that if you choose a non-secure method of payment, it is highly unlikely that you will get your money back. Avoid paying a stranger using apps such as Venmo, as it is harder to get your money back if you don’t get what you paid for.
  • Price is too good to be true. Research the prices for the breed you are considering. Purebred dogs sold at deeply discounted prices are typically frauds. If the seller says they register their dogs with a specific organization, you can call the organization to confirm.
