Building a Safer Wellington

October marks the start of the Building a Safer Wellington Main Street project, made possible by $1.8 million in grant funding awarded to the Town of Wellington. As we work to improve

Cleveland Avenue, the downtown anchor of our community, keeping residents, businesses, and visitors informed is a key project priority.

As we prepare to enter the design phase, project updates will be made via the Town website, official social media, signage, and when necessary, through the mail to adjacent properties.

If you would like to receive project updates when they are available via text message please text “Cleveland” to

(833) 451-4266.

National Community Planning Month

Community Planning Month

October is National Community Planning Month. Planning is the process of envisioning, mapping or otherwise conceiving of how a community will look, grow, and define itself. From where you live, to how you commute, to the type of home you live in, planning helps shape the community around us.

Planning in the Town of Wellington is supported by two staff members, the Planning Director, and a Senior Planner, which is a new position for the Town. This small but mighty team helps create guiding documents for the future, such as the Comprehensive Plan, as well as supporting the Planning Commission and current development projects.

We celebrate the role that planning plays in creating great communities this October with National Community Planning Month.

Trick or Treat Down

Main Street

Trick or Treat down Main Street Wellington with candy and treats from over 40 local businesses and organizations.

Reusable bags will be handed out to the first 750 trick-or-treaters at the intersections of First Street and Fifth Street.

Cleveland Ave will be closed from

1-7 p.m. to ensure the safety of the community, so bring the whole family for a fun time!

Budget BOO-nanza

Have you ever wondered why a certain park was updated or why some potholes were repaired before others? The Town of Wellington budget is the tool used to execute the Board of Trustees Strategic Plan. Come learn about the budget process and provide feedback on the proposed budget for 2024 at the Budget BOO-nanza. Tuesday, October 17, from 3-6 p.m. at the Leeper Center.

While budgets might sound boring, staying engaged with the budget is an incredible way to impact your local government. To make sure the whole family can engage in the budget, this event is informal; come and go as you please.

Pick up a free pumpkin, and ask your Trustees and Department Directors questions. Stations with key components of the budget will be set up, and you will have the opportunity to dive into the topics that interest you.

Review the two Budget Work Session meeting recordings in preparation for the 2024 Draft Budget.
