  • Placement of cement-treated aggregate
  • Grading, placing stone for temporary asphalt, placing base and then intermediate asphalt.

Crews also did test-pitting for utilities on Towlston Road, in preparation for temporary improvements at the Route 7/Towlston Road intersection.

Fall Driving Tips

Fall is finally in the air, and the seasonal transition means changes to the driving conditions we've become accustomed to over the summer. Here are some great tips from the American Automobile Association (AAA) for safe driving during autumn months:

  • Be sure your headlights are clean and in good working order for maximum visibility.
  • As days get shorter, watch for pedestrians and cyclists in the early morning and evening hours.
  • Remember, school is in session. Watch for children walking in the mornings and afternoons.
  • Obey all traffic laws pertaining to school buses. Visit Fairfax County's web site for details.
  • When driving in fog, set your headlights to low instead of high, slow down and leave plenty of space between your car and the car in front of you.
  • Clear all frost on car windows before leaving home in the morning.
  • Reduce glare by keeping your windshield clean inside and out, and wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.
