LSSU President Peter Mitchell gave working groups their brainstorming mandate during "visioning" sessions held for LSSU's Center for Freshwater Research and Education (CFRE).  
 
LSSU Award Recipients from left are Michael O'Toole ('03), recipient of the Paul Ripley Award for Young Alumni; David B. Jahn ('90 MBA), recipient of the Outstanding Alumnus Award; and Galen Rashard Duncan ('94), recipient of the Kenneth J. Shouldice Achievement Award; LSSU President Peter Mitchell. The Alumni Awards recognition evening has been held since 1994 in conjunction with Great Lake State Weekend, LSSU's Homecoming.

was recently inducted into the Alpena High School Hall of Fame.
 
 
 
STUDENT KUDOS  
 

LSSU  Nursing students recently attended the Association for Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses Annual Conference for the Michigan Chapters on Mackinac Island. The students learned about Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome and Perinatal Nurse Management. They received a very warm welcome from conference organizers!
 
 
LSSU Geology students  took a trip to Pictured Rocks to gain hands on experience. This was a joint trip of Geo-environmental Systems and Clastic Systems lead by new LSSU professors Dr. Kat Rocheford and Dr. Bill Houston.
 

LSSU Theatre group
performed the show "Good Kids" to a sold out crowd at the LSSU Arts Center. Judge Liz Chambers and CJ Prof. Dr. Aaron Westrick held a pre-show discussion regarding criminal law relating to sexual assault due to the plays depiction of the Steubenville, Ohio case aftermath. You can see this free play Oct. 26 & 27, 6-9pm in the LSSU Arts Center.

November 11 - Laker Tailgate & Hockey vs. BGSU, Bowling Green, Ohio
 
 
December 2 - Laker Hockey Tailgate, 5:30pm, Lukenda Alumni House, Lakers vs. Alaska, 7:07pm, Taffy Abel Arena
 

December 7 - Lake State After Hours - Northern Superior Brewing Company- inside the Bush Plane Museum, Soo, Ont.


December 9 - Laker Basketball Social & game vs. Northwood, Midland, MI


December 9 - Yooper Night at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, MI *Game vs. St. Louis Blues at 1pm, post-game social location TBD. Join Yooper Friends & Alumni from NMU, MTU & LSSU!
