From the Desk of Mrs. Tiezzi
Dear St. Rita Parents/Guardians,
This coming Monday, October 9, St. Rita School will be closed for the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day holiday. I hope you can take some time over the upcoming weekend to enjoy all the fun family activities associated with this lovely season, as well as be mindful and thankful for the sacrifices of our ancestors. This is a great opportunity to teach your child about their ancestry and family traditions that you celebrate.
Also on Monday, there will be a Mass of Welcome at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford for our new Coadjutor Archbishop of Hartford, Christopher J. Coyne. Archbishop Coyne previously served as the bishop of the Diocese of Burlington from 2015-2023 and also was previously an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis from 2011-2015. Please pray for our new shepherd, Archbishop Coyne, as he begins his ministry in the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Mass will be live-streamed on the archdioceseofhartford.org beginning at 1:00 P.M.
The school picture order form was recently sent home with your child. Ordering can be done on-line following the directions on the form. Individual students’ pictures will be taken on Wednesday, October 11. Students are not required to wear their uniforms for individual pictures, however they should be dressed appropriately for school. Next Friday, October 13, class pictures will be taken and students must be in their proper winter uniform for these.
The parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for October 12 from 3:00-6:15 and October 13 from 1:00-3:15. Both these days are early dismissal days. Aftercare will be available for $40 per child ($45 for PreK). Parents must register for conferences using the link provided by the teachers. All parents are strongly advised to sign-up for a conference to review their child’s NWEA MAP assessments, learn more about their child as a learner and have any questions or concerns addressed midway through the first marking period.
This Friday, before the 9:00 Mass, we will be presenting the monthly St. Rita Way Awards to those students deemed by their teacher to have exhibited Love in Action. The St. Rita Way value of the month for September was welcoming. Those students in Kindergarten and PreK will receive their awards in their classroom. The value we are working on for October is patience. We invite our parents, grandparents, and parishioners to join us for weekly Friday Mass as we build the kingdom of God here at St. Rita School.
Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend.
God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
