A Message from Our VP of Student Life and Mission

Dear Carondelet Community,

Service and Leadership are two values and ways of being that Carondelet have always put at the forefront of student programming and curriculum. This week there are several ways that our students are engaging with these values in meaningful ways.

On Monday, team captains and student leaders will be joining other local high school athletes and leaders in our EBAL league to explore good sportsmanship and positive fan behavior at Foothill High School. This program is sponsored by EBAL and is focused on developing a vibrant and positive team and competitive experience throughout the league.

The three other CSJ high schools in California (Saint Mary’s Academy, St. Joseph High School, and Academy of Our Lady of Peace) are sending student leaders to visit us from Wednesday through Friday for a High School Leadership Conference. They will join a cohort of Carondelet student leaders to learn about the history and charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph and how this is an important aspect of student leadership on all four campuses.

Ven a Ver D.C. leaves this Thursday to attend the Ignatian Family Teach-in in Washington D.C. where they will have a chance to meet Catholic high school students to discuss a variety of social justice topics. They will also have a chance to advocate for topics like immigration and sustainability with a variety of government officials.

Lastly, Carondelet will be sponsoring St. Marty’s Party, a Halloween carnival that Carondelet puts on for the children who attend Monument Crisis Center’s after school program. This carnival is a fun tradition of service that connects us to the CSJs in Los Angeles who have been putting on a Halloween carnival for the local children surrounding Mount St. Mary’s University campus for 31 years.

Have a good week, Carondelet!

Reminders

AP Exam Payment Information

Parents of students enrolled in AP classes received a communication this week providing directions on paying for 2023-24 AP exams. Reminder that the payment deadline is 11:59 PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023

Free Test Prep Resource

College admissions type exams like the ACT and SAT are always a source of stress. For students that feel they need more preparation for these exams, Carondelet has a free platform they can access for test prep. All students can log into Albert.io and sign on using their school email.

Halloween Costume Reminders

As we approach this fun holiday, it’s important to outline costume expectations. Items such as inappropriate, violent, graphic, derogatory words/graphics/props are never permitted. Full face masks and face paint are not permitted. Costumes and themed attire should be culturally sensitive, appropriate to the occasion, not derogatory of any person or group of people, and in good taste. Additionally, shirts must have sleeves (long or short) and fall below the waistline, shorts/skirts must be mid-thigh or longer, and shoes must be closed-toed and closed-heeled. Any questions about appropriateness, cultural sensitivity of the attire should be directed to the Dean of Students in advance of the event.

Attendance Reminders

Any time a student is absent, arriving late, or leaving early, a parent/guardian is required to notify our Attendance Coordinator before 10:00 AM. Email is the preferred form of communication and we ask that parents/guardians use the subject line to note absent, early out, or arriving late. This helps with workflow and timely PowerSchool updates.

All seniors need to be photographed and have chosen their senior portrait for the yearbook by December 1. Also, Senior Family Ads (Dedications) can now be created for the yearbook. The deadline to complete this is also December 1 - details on our website. If you have any questions contact our Yearbook Advisor, Faith Ripoli.
