The San Pedro ♥ Festival of the Arts is a free family event, in the past featuring Dance, Music & Visual Arts/Crafts Booths. This year, our 17th, we approached it with the focus on dance. The festival was again awarded a Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles Festival Grant. This project is also supported by the LA County Department of Arts and Culture as part of Creative Recovery LA, an initiative funded by the American Rescue Plan. Companies included traditional ballet and modern as well as ethnic dance forms, fusion, jazz, and flamenco. Also included were 3 pre-professional companies or schools.

The festival photos on the left are by Robert Kunstmann. Those on the right are screen grabs from the video.

Hispanic Heritage Month

On the steps is a photo from the LAUSD that invited us to teach 3 classes on a work by modern dance giant Jose Limon in celebration of Hispanic Heritage month. Left of Louise Reichlin is Jill Collins who assisted and to the right is Daanee Touchstone who ran the tech.

Reichlin holds a book written about Limon who attended and graduated from the LAUSD before moving to New York to begin his company.

Our company had residencies in 25 schools last season! Most were elementary, but worked in 4 middle schools as part of the new arts prototype for more arts in that age range.

Below is a photo from a recent school performance.
