Dear John,
Uniting with Passion and Purpose! That’s what 2,200 non-public educators did at the Indiana Convention Center during INPEC 2023 last week.
You matter!!!! That was the message from both keynoters (Todd Whitaker and Ted Nietzke) at this year’s INPEC! Every day you impact the lives of your students in ways you may never know about. We learned what great teachers do differently and we learned about the decision to be “buffaloes or cows” in terms of how we approach our vocation as educators. Do we run with conviction into new challenges or moo and run in the other direction? I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear some mooing at the naysayers pushing back on new initiatives/improvements at your school! Listen closely. In short, Todd and Ted challenged all in attendance to be our very best because we are educators and with that comes an awesome responsibility!
The best part of INPEC is always the energy… the vibe created by having 2,200 educators Uniting in Passion and Purpose! We are very diverse schools but we are united by a common mission educating and forming our students to make a difference in the world. From the keynotes to the excellent breakouts to Boomer and the Trojan to the scavenger hunt to just walking the halls, the days were filled with smiles, laughter, teachable moments, personal and collective growth, and just the recognition that we are in this together! That’s what makes INPEC special. Thanks for being a part of it!
Now the hard part, take what you learned and use it!
See you in 2025!
The INPEA Team,
John, Chris, Andrea, and Beatrice

EANS I November 30th Deadline in ClassWallet
Upon clarification from ClassWallet, the last day for grantees to access the ClassWallet platform for EANS I will be 11/30/2023 NOT 12/15/2023. This still allows grantees 60 days to liquidate their encumbered funding, but the platform will not be accessible after this date, so schools should submit invoices as soon as possible because if they don’t get their invoice in by this time, it will not be processed.

NAEP Launches 2024 Program
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is conducting digitally based assessments in mathematics and reading at grades 4, 8, and 12, and science at grade 8 in public and private schools throughout the country. NAEP is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what students in public and private schools know and can do.
Participation of private schools is essential to provide a complete and accurate picture of education in the United States. Private schools represent about 24 percent of schools in the nation and educate about 9 percent of the students. Recent NAEP data examined how student achievement has been impacted by the pandemic, comparing student performance in reading and mathematics from 2019 to 2022. These results have garnered national media attention elevating learning recovery as a top priority for parents, educators and policymakers nationwide. By participating in NAEP 2024, your school will contribute to the picture of education across the nation and to future policy decisions.
Visit the private school section of the NAEP website for more information about the NAEP program and the importance of private school participation.

Report Card Website Posting Clarification
INPEA has fielded numerous questions about school report card website postings. We reached out to IDOE for clarification and they confirmed that the per pupil funding item does NOT pertain to non-public schools.
The website will state “Per pupil funding not applicable for non-public schools” in the space where it shows it for the public schools.
Please let us know if you have any questions!

Tools, Support to Address the Needs of Every Student
Each school year, teachers and staff go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students. Teachers are asked to not only educate children on their ABCs and 123s, but also be on the lookout for non-academic struggles, like bullying, difficult home life, and more. Across the country, schools are experiencing a shortage of 100,000 counselors, which means many schools may struggle to effectively meet the needs of every student.
The recently established National Guidelines for Integrated Student Support provide every school a roadmap to create a network of supports and opportunities for students. Based on four student support models—Building Assets Reducing Risks (BARR) Center, City Connects, Communities in Schools, and the New York City Community Schools—these national guidelines focus on three common features:
- Building on current operational infrastructures;
- Supporting every child, not just the ones visibly in crisis; and
- Using evidence-based and data-driven approaches.
Schools can use these national guidelines to implement comprehensive student support practices that can address student challenges and help improve student academic performance, reduce chronic absenteeism, and increase graduation rates. Click here to learn more.
The Marian University Center for Vibrant Schools offers a wide-variety of services, including the City Connects practice, to support the needs of students and educators. Visit marian.edu/vibrantschools to learn more.
