Happy Training!

The cooler months are upon us! Let's set our clocks back and take advantage of this beautiful weather!

As our tri season is coming to end, we can take the time to reflect on the past year and start our off-season training which may include stepping outside of our comfort zone. Read our President's messages to get ideas for training during these down times.

In the meantime, take a look at some of our upcoming events, and join us on our last hurrah as we wrap-up the season. For more information on our upcoming events please see our FB page!

If you are in need of some motivation, check out our FB page to see what our club members are doing! First, our President did his EPIC challenge last month that left everyone speechless! And now Tedd Girouard did something that is somewhat unimaginable! Check out our FB page or read below to see Tedd's amazing accomplishment and his journey on how he prepared for his event. Think you can keep up?

We have appreciated everyone's support this year as it has been somewhat unconventional. As we look forward to a brighter 2021, your feedback is important. Please read below and complete the Qualtrics link. We will use our member input to plan our 2021 season.

As the weather cools down, don't forget to give some TLC to your bike from the wear and tear of the summer months. Call Velofix for a bike tune up, or upgrade to an Xterra wetsuit with long sleeves! Don't forget to use our Clubs discount code.

You can do both the Trick and the Treat on the same day if you like. More details to follow. Please see out FB page for the most up0-to-date information.
We Need your Feedback!

Let us know your thoughts!

Although the 2020 'season' is not over yet, it is time to look forward to planning out the 2021 season.

We are interested in your feedback! Of course, 2020 was disappointing because we were not able to have our regular club tri-events. But it has been an incredible year to see the connections made and growth our endurance community has undergone.

As the Club plans out the 2021 season, we want to know more about your thoughts about what is working and what could be improved.

Please help us by completing the survey - there are about 25 questions and probably will take about 15 mins to complete.

We want feedback from everyone - member or not. So if you are reading this, we want your input!

Please click on the link below to give us your input.

Prez Corner:

Off-Season... already?!

What will your off-season look like? I know several of you still have potential races in 2020 – but most of us have had our last races for 2020 postponed or cancelled. For me, my off-season typically starts in December. I’m about 2-months ahead of that schedule!

How will you approach this extended off-season? Off-season is such an important part of your yearly success. It is important to have a plan for off-season and to use that time to prepare for the next season.

Here are some ideas that you may want to consider including in your off-season:

  • Recover – if you’ve been training all year, it is good to take a step back and recover.
  • Work on core strength – if you haven’t been including strength training, maybe this is the year to add this.
  • Improve flexibility – try yoga or mediation.
  • Rehab any nagging injuries.
  • Try different sports / activities.
  • Kayaking
  • Hiking
  • Climbing

An advantage of living in the South West region is the fall is a great time to be outdoors. We also have access to some beautiful national parks and outdoor areas. I’m going to include some kayaking and hiking this fall as part of my off-season plan.

The most important part of your off-season plan: Enjoy! Sometimes we focus so much on training that we lose the enjoyment of being out on our bike, running trails, or swimming. You can still maintain some great fitness doing a variety of other activities in the off-season.

Take a look at your 2021 schedule and then plan out your off-season – maybe you don’t need structure for your off-season … but take advantage of the extended off-season. You’ll set yourself up for great success in 2021.

Shout Outs!

Congratulations to Tedd Girouard on finishing his Epic October challenge!

He climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest (29,029+ ft) in one single go pushing over 200 watts! Not only did he climb the elevation, he cycled 166 miles and met his time goal.

What an amazing accomplishment!
