Don't Miss the Lake County Honor Flight
If you served our country, you shouldn't miss this wonderful opportunity. Everyone I have spoken to who has taken this trip is so glad they did!

The mission of Lake County Honor Flight and the Honor Flight Network is to fly America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. Top priority is given to America’s most senior veteran survivors of World War II, followed by Korean War, Vietnam War, and any veterans with a terminal illness who wish to visit their memorial.

LAKE COUNTY HONOR FLIGHT recognizes America’s war veterans for your service and sacrifice by flying you to Washington D.C. to see YOUR memorial, at no cost. Although they are currently flying WWII and Korean War veterans, they are also accepting applications for Vietnam War veterans, as well. Their trips depart from General Mitchell International Airport. All applications are taken in the order in which they are received with the exception of terminally ill. When their next flight is confirmed they will contact you by mail. For further information, please contact us at (847) 282-0374.  Click here for the application. MHS Invites Veterans to Take Part in Veterans Day Assembly
Mundelein High School officials are inviting area veterans to take part in a solemn Veterans’ Day assembly to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. [the actual Veterans’ Day falls on a Monday, Nov. 11 this year]. Last year the assembly drew more than 120 veterans to take part in the ceremony and to be honored. The registration deadline is Friday, Nov 1.
Veterans may register for the event here.
They may also call Social Studies Department Chair Chris Lagioia at 847.949.2200, Extension 1156.
Participating veterans should arrive at the MHS District Office building, just west of the high school, between 7:30 and 8 a.m. They will be bussed to the high school in time to be escorted by a drumline to the main gym for the ceremony. Once the event has concluded all veterans will be honored at a brunch from 10 to 11 a.m. in the District Office building.
The guest speaker for the event will be Sargent Allen J. Lunch, who received the Medal of Honor for his service during the Vietnam War. He is also the author of the book Zero to Hero.
