Reflections Art Competition 2022-23 Submission Update


What is Reflections? Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life.

Note: Students will be taking photos or scanning their finished work and submitting it online. Should be the student's original work. We DO NOT accept 3D art.

RECRUITMENT OF PARENTS FOR 6th GRADE ROBOTICS CLUB


We are looking for Parents to lead the 6th grade robotics club!


Are you interested in starting a robotics club for 6th graders but don't know where to begin? Good news! We currently have a 7th grade robotics club, which is at full capacity, that is happy to guide you on how to start the club for our 6th graders. We'll share our knowledge, lessons, and notes from last year. It will be a breeze for you to get our newly joined ICS students to get rolling with building, designing, and programming robots from scratch.


Requirements: Two to Three parents, at least one of the parents must have programming experience and interest in coaching students. Email to Huayun or Angela Michael for more information if you want to lead this club.

Orienteering


Do you love a good excuse to be outdoors in all weather? Are scavenger hunts your thing? Sign up to compete in the WIOL orienteering leagueregister for either the ICS team or FHMS if that is your home school. Early bird discount for signing up before October 16 at 7 pm. You have choices – full season (8 meets) or Meet to Meet – better for skiers and soccer players. Season runs from November 1 to end of February. League provided training is October 8 (Lynnwood) or October 23rd (Maple Valley Farmers Market). Sign up for training by mailing WIOLRegistrar@gmail.com with name, school, grade, date and session (9-12 or 12-3), and whether Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced.

2023 Art Day - Ideas and Chair Persons Needed


It's time for 2023 Art Day. Art day committee needs your help for the open positions of Assembly Chair, Cooking Class Chair, Volunteer Chair, and Newsletter Chair.

Math Competitions


The registration for Math competitions throughout the year is now open.


  1. The AMC (American Mathematics Competitions) are organized by the MAA (Mathematical Association of America). They are the first tier of competitions leading to the International Mathematical Olympiad. 
  2. MATHCOUNTS provides engaging math programs to US middle school students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem solving.
  3. Math Is Cool is a fun and popular mathematics competitions in Washington State emphasizing on mental math, problem solving with speed and accuracy, and team work collaborations.
