BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
You are invited to bring your animal companions (in a carrier or on a leash) to church for a special blessing this Sunday, October 17, at noon. Church is the place where the bond of creation is celebrated. Every creature is important. The love we give to and receive from our animal companions can draw us more deeply into the larger circle of life, and into the wonder of our common relationship to our Creator. For persons unable to attend the Pet Blessing who would like to have their pet blessed, please email a photo to Pastor Joel at joel@dayspring-umc.org. The service will be livestreamed HERE.
BLESSING OF THE STUFFED ANIMALS
Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animals for a special blessing this Sunday, October 20, during Children's Time at both the 9:00 and 10:30 services.
ASU FALL CHORAL FESTIVAL
The ASU Choral program opens its 2021-22 season at Dayspring with fall choral festival concerts on October 20 and 21. Most of these groups are presenting their first live concerts since December of 2019! So it’s a bit of a triumphant return. The theme this season is “Lift EVERY Voice.” The festival opens on Wednesday, October 20 at 7:30pm with a concert entitled “Lift Every Voice and Sing!” and continues on Thursday, October 21 at 7:30pm with "Earth and Heaven Ring". FALL FESTIVAL
The Dayspring Fall Festival is back! Join our Children's and Youth Ministries on October 23 from 4-7pm. There will be games, crafts, bouncy castles, obstacle course, climbing wall and much more. Pre-sale tickets will be available on the patio this Sunday and are 50 for $20 or $.50 a ticket at the door. (Fifty tickets is about enough for two kids to do everything at the festival). All are invited to join us for this event; proceeds support the Dayspring Youth Ministry's Sierra Service Project trip.

ANNUAL CHARGE CONFERENCE
Our annual Charge Conference is scheduled for 6:30pm on October 28 via zoom. Led by our District Superintendent, the conference is held every year for the purpose of conducting the business of the church as required by the 2016 Book of Discipline and provides everyone in attendance with an overview of the past year in the life of the church. This is a charge conference, which means only members of the Covenant Council may vote, however everyone is welcome to attend and speak.
ALL SAINTS SUNDAY
All Saints' Sunday is November 7. We publicly remember and honor those who have died in the previous year and the impact their lives have had on us. If you would like to light a candle in memory of a loved one, please let us know their name on or before Monday, November 1 by emailing Andrea, or calling the church office at (480) 838-1446.
GRIEF SUPPORT
Everyone experiences grief differently, but having skills to process life after loss can make life bearable and, hopefully, life giving. On Mondays, at 6:30pm, Dayspring is hosting a Zoom grief support group. This class introduces skills that persons may find helpful in their journey of healing. If you, or someone you know needs support in grieving a major loss in your life, such as a death or broken relationship, or job loss, this is a safe place to process in community. Please register by emailing Pastor Joel. Psychologist and Dayspring member, Dr. Sharon Zygowicz facilitates the sessions.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are facing a crisis or going through tough times. The care you’ll receive is confidential, free, and very helpful. Email Stephen Ministers for more information or learn more HERE.
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY CLOTHING DRIVE
As part of our ongoing Project Hope Mission project, we are proud to have built three wells in Liberia with the help of Prince Mayson and the Mayson family. We are partnering again for a Children’s Shoes and Clothing Drive to deliver to children in the communities in and around where our previous wells have been built. Please bring gently used clothes and shoes, as well as new toothbrushes and toothpastes to the donation bins in the Narthex by October 31. Please email Emily with questions.
ASYLUM SEEKERS MINISTRY
Our ministry with asylum seekers is still in need of donations. The International Rescue Committee continues to receive from 100 to 200 people per day. This has resulted in constantly depleted stocks of clothing, shoes and other items. We especially need smaller adult size casual pants/jeans, jackets, and tennis/athletic shoes, sturdy work boots, and flip-flops, as well as disposable razors, travel-size shaving cream and nail clippers. Please email Pastor Jim O’Neal to arrange for items to be picked up. Learn more
