Did you know that millions of Americans didn’t vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register?
What is #NationalVoterRegistrationDay?
Today we are excited to join our national partners for
#NationalVoterRegistrationDay
(NVRD). NVRD is the largest one-day effort of the year to register voters!
Are you registered?
If not, please

to access OYU's Online Voter Registration Tool. Please encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to do the same.
We also want to make sure no one misses the opportunity to vote due to a registration problem. If you turned 18 recently, changed your name, moved, or haven’t voted in recent elections, then you need to update your voter registration
Reminder: TODAY IS NOT THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE! In fact, the voter registration deadline in most states is October 7
.

Why are Local Elections Important?
Aside from general elections, the midterm elections are the highest-profile elections in the country and gives voters a chance to affect the makeup of both the House and the Senate. Further, 39 states will vote on who will be their next respective governors.
While national elections get the media attention, local elections in many ways have a more direct impact on people’s lives, including the quality of roads and transit systems, the schools our kids attend, parks and greenways, public safety, and more.
Democracy is built from the ground up
