$44 Million Expansion of Weirton Water Plant Moving Forward

It appears plans to expand Weirton’s water treatment plant are finally able to move forward, after two actions by city council, and with the Weirton Area Water Board scheduled to award the contract.

Over the last several years, city officials have been working with the Thrasher Group to design expansions for both the water treatment plant and the wastewater treatment plant, bringing both from capacities of 4 million gallons per day to 8 million gallons per day.
