Yesterday, in celebration of Take Your Child to Work Day, my son and I visited several OVCEC member projects. I thought this would be more exciting to a six-year-old than a full day in the office. It was wonderful to see so much awesome work being done around town. All photos below are by Gunnar Starkowicz. It was a great morning of site visits, conversations, and monster trucks!

New Marshall County Health Department Building Slated to Finish Construction by October

Marshall County officials say the new health department is making outstanding progress and has had very few delays since they broke ground last August. 

Grae-Con Construction is slated to wrap up the project by October of this year, and employees are expected to move in by November.

Flurry of Recreation Improvement Projects Underway in Wheeling

Work to improve recreational facilities continues in the city of Wheeling, where a number of projects are unfolding this spring.

Savage Construction Company is working on several projects including playground improvements at the 36th Street Playground, the Elm Terrace Playground, the playground in Clator, the Pulaski Park Playground, and the Heritage Port Splash Pad.

Professional Building Roof Replacement

Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. is working to replace the roof of the Professional Building while preserving the Victorian architecture. This historic building first opened in 1892 as the City Bank Building.

Wheeling Receives Money to Build Robrecht Riverfront Park

Sixty-one outdoor recreational projects across West Virginia have been funded, and two of those projects are in the Northern Panhandle.

Robrecht Riverfront Park will be a public park with recreational access to the Ohio River and Wheeling Creek. It will have some green space and many trail connections, along with parking spaces.
