GREEN TIP: MAKE YOUR PARTY FABULOUS AND ECO-FRIENDLY
Use Plant-Based, eco-friendly glitter. Every pride month, a staple for many parties is glitter, but glitter is terrible for the environment. Glitter products are most often made of plastic. When glitter gets washed down the drain, microplastics end up in marine systems and are hazardous to millions of organisms, including human beings. In recent years, environmentally-friendly glitter has become available on the market. Click here to learn more about an eco-friendly pride from Earthday.org.

SUMMERTIME BOSTON WARM
TO MEET AT OLD SOUTH CHURCH
Fridays 8 AM-12 Noon beginning June 7
Continuing our long time partnership with common cathedral, we will host Boston Warm every Friday this summer in the Club Room. Our relationship with common cathedral spans many years as a regular beneficiary of our Christian Service and Outreach grants. Old South Church worked with a coalition of religious leaders to launch the “Boston Warm" daytime programs in late 2014, when the bridge to the Long Island Shelter was closed, abruptly halting access to the shelter and services. Boston Warm drop-in daytime program has been running for almost 10 years. See the Common Cathedral website commoncathedral.org/about to learn more!

CONGRATULATIONS RACHEL BARTON
Rachel Barton, our Assistant Minister and Nancy S. Taylor Fellow, passed her Ecclesiastical Council with flying colors last Sunday afternoon, June 2nd. The Council was held at Hancock Church UCC, in Lexington, MA. The Council's name, derived from the word 'ecclesial'. or 'church related', is the final step in a candidate's long journey toward Ordination. Delegates from eleven churches heard Rachel speak of her call to ministry and of her work at both Hancock Church and Old South. They examined her fitness for ministry by asking a broad range of questions on her call, experience and theology. Then, after meeting in executive session to discuss her credentials, they voted unanimously to approve her candidacy! Rachel will likely be ordained over the summer, watch out for an invitation to her ordination. Old South can be extremely proud of Rachel: her faith journey, her work with us and her affirmation by our wider UCC family. Well done Rachel!

CONFIRMANDS RECEIVE BASKET OF BLESSINGS
Last Sunday 3 of our 4 confirmands joined Old South Church through the Rite of Confirmation. In preparation for this important event in the life of the church, the boards & committees of Old South each prepared a symbolic gift to the students that represents the work their board or committee does. Please see the wonderful inspiring gifts and words here.

On Sunday June 16 at 10am, come learn about the history, architecture, and people that are highlighted, see if you can stump a docent with your questions, and learn how you, too, could be a docent! Can’t make it? Join our docents any Sunday after Festival Worship at the front of the sanctuary for a 20 minute tour.
