OLLI at UVA Members, 

We have good news to share. We’re moving! OLLI at UVA is relocating our staff office, effective September 1, 2020, to Studio IX at 969 Second Street SE. OLLI’s staff office will be located in the IX Park business park along with four other nonprofits and seven professional organizations, located off Elliott Avenue near downtown Charlottesville.

OLLI’s phone, email and web site will remain the same. Phone: 434.923.3600, email: olliuva@virginia.edu, web: olliuva.org. Please note that OLLI staff will continue to work remotely after the move, and the new office spaces will not yet be open to the public. 
Many factors led to the OLLI Board of Directors’ decision to move the staff office at this time. Most evident was our lease ending July 31, 2020, and significant rental increases over the course of the last 14 years at Hillsdale. This unique time gave our staff the opportunity to consider how best to use our resources and where to make vital operational changes during COVID. After research was conducted by our Executive Director, we learned that another viable option existed which could simplify our day-to-day operations and reduce costs. We will continue to research opportunities for a central facility in the future.

Benefits of the New Space

Brighter, open space - Staff are looking forward to a brighter, more modern workspace. The amount of sheer grit and pivoting that went into moving OLLI online during the last six months was only the beginning of our ability, and need, to be nimble as an organization.
Conference space/options and a central space for special gatherings - Studio IX offers a few different meeting room spaces and the potential to hold some future classes onsite. There is also a Gallery that holds up to 50 attendees theatre style. This space will be suitable for lectures and larger classes.

Jaybird Coffee - There is a lovely coffee shop, run by Jaybird, at the front of the space which is open to the public. Our director has already secured a rental rate for this space for live “OLLI coffee chats,” should our membership desire to hold events on a monthly or bi-monthly basis once it is safe to do so.

Office suites – OLLI staff will work in two suites with locking doors for security and privacy.

Free parking & accessibility - There is free parking onsite, a ramp for handicap accessibility and plenty of space for parking.

Our new physical address will be 969 2nd Street SE, Suite 101, Charlottesville, VA 22902 as of September 1st. When OLLI can open safely, we would love to have you visit us in our new digs.
Jaybird Coffee is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. Feel free to stop by to see where the OLLI office will be located. Please note that Studio IX is requiring masks and social distancing for all who visit the space.

OLLI classes begin on September 8th! We are feeling excited, hopeful about the fall semester, and remain thankful to our instructors and members for moving with us into the world of online learning. We are looking forward to seeing you in class!
