LITURGY

DAILY MASS IS NOW BEING OFFERED FOR OUR PARISH FAMILY ON TUESDAY EVENINGS, 6:00 pm at Holy Rosary. Everyone is welcome.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP SERVE AT OUR LITURGIES

  • ALTAR SERVER TRAINING Are you interested in being an altar server? Children 4th grade and older, and adults are invited to attend one of the two upcoming trainings: Wednesday, September 18, 2:30-3:15 pm or Saturday, September 21, 9:30-10:15 am, in the church. We can schedule a separate training if these dates don’t work for your family. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together.
  • EUCHARISTIC MINISTER TRAINING? We need more volunteers to help with our liturgies and/or to bring Holy Communion to those who are sick or homebound.  Eucharistic Ministers must be fully initiated into the Church, having celebrated Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. This is a wonderful ministry that not only serves our community but also draws you more closely to the Eucharist.
  • LECTOR TRAINING can be scheduled on a one-to-one basis. Volunteers need to be confident in public speaking and have a love for the Word of God.
  • CAMERA OPERATORS have an important role in our liturgical ministry. Parishioners who are sick or homebound greatly appreciate being able to stay connected to us and to the Mass. The operation of our cameras is fairly simple and training can be arranged to accommodate your schedule.

Contact Helen Oesterle if interested in any of these ministries

PARTNERS IN THE GOSPEL

PARTNERS IN THE GOSPEL UPDATE: What's next? As the summer winds down, parishioners will continue to get to know their new pastoral leaders. Meanwhile, staff, parish ministries and councils at individual parishes will start to meet with their counterparts in the other parishes within the parish family. The next months are dedicated to simply getting to know each other and build relationships, which will lay the foundation for future planning work. Visit the Partners in the Gospel website for more information including final parish families and Official appointments; overview of the entire process, Q & A; and videos from priests and local parishioners. You can also view the most recent newsletter from the Archdiocese.

UPCOMING EVENTS

GRIEF: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE WILDERNESS

There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens. A time to give birth, and a time to die... (Eccles. 3:1-2). Death like birth is a part of every human life. It is an inevitable part of being human. Here at OLG we would like to accompany those who are experiencing loss and grief. We will be offering a six-week group beginning Sept. 16 (1:00 pm to 2:30 pm) called: Grief: A Journey through the Wilderness. This group will offer compassionate support to guide people as they navigate through sorrow toward hope.

For more information, please contact Pam Stephen-Jordan at 206-935-0358 ext. 104.

LOVE IN ACTION

In Sept we begin our exploration into Catholic Social Teaching and how these tenets may enliven our faith and challenge us to live more authentically and compassionately. The social mission of the parish begins in the gospel’s call to conversion; to change our hearts and follow the path of charity, justice and peace. Monthly sessions will also contain an interactive component    between our ministries, our community partners and those we serve as we share a meal together. For more information, click here
