First Day after Mass Blessing

Principal's Letter

Dear Families,

We are off and running with the 2024-25 school year, and it is wonderful to be back! With three school days under our belts now, some of our students feel like seasoned pros, and others are perhaps a little tired now, from the routine, the early non-summer wake ups, and the fatigue that constant interaction with peers is now back. But happy, smiling faces remain plentiful! In the building, there has been a bounty of laughter, smiling faces, and many get to know you activities, games and welcome back projects. Academic classes have started too, and Fr. Tim and Fr. Phuong have become familiar faces around campus!

With a start after Labor Day, we dive right into the school year with Curriculum Night tonight at 6pm for Parents/ Guardians only. Tonight you will have an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher(s) and hear about our overall program. Though it may be tempting, tonight is not a time to have 1:1 conversations with the teacher about individual student needs. If those are conversations you need to have, please schedule those separately with your child's teacher. This is a mandatory evening for parents. If you cannot be in attendance, please let us know, as important information is shared and we want everyone to be on the same page.

Some logistics:

  • We will meet in the gym this year, since we are just doing one night, instead of two. Doors open at 5:45pm and we will be done by 7:30pm.
  • For families with 2 or more children in PreK- 8, note that there will only be two classroom rotations this evening.
  • If you have three children and only one parent is able to make it tonight:
  • Begin with the teachers you have not had before..
  • If you have a middle schooler, start with middle school (they only have one rotation).
  • If you are new, and only have one parent able to come tonight, and have three children, pick two classes to go to.
  • Prioritize middle school (since that is hearing from 4+ teachers) and then pick another grade level to attend.
  • Homeroom teachers are aware that families who have three children may come at the end to ask questions if you were not able to make it to their session. Parents with 3 children, please be in their classrooms by 7:30 to if you need a quick 5 minute overview of what you missed.

We look forward to seeing you tonight. There will be an agenda, and items to pick up. We will begin promptly at 6pm.

We look forward to seeing you tonight, on opening night of football. The good news is, the best things happen in the 2nd half, so you’ll only miss the first quarter!

With Gratitude,

Jog-A-Thon Sept 27, 2024

For those new to OLG, the Jog-A-Thon is a fun way for the kids to get moving and raise money for the school! On Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, every student will participate with their class in either walking or running laps at Walt Hundley Playfield.

Our theme this year is ‘Running of the Bull(dog)s!’

Event shirts are available now - order by Monday, Sept 9!

The Jog-A-Thon is the second-largest fundraiser put on by the Parent Organization. This year, donations can be made via paper form, or completely online through each student’s own personal fundraising page. Need help creating your Fundraising Page? - Click Here
