Principal's Letter

Good evening, OLG!

On Tuesday, I was fortunate enough to join our 6th graders up at Camp Hamilton, canoe on the lake, and see all of their joy, excitement and love of community. Our students were collaborative, respectful, engaged and kind. They were involved, good stewards and represented us well. Thank you very much to our chaperones and staff who made the experience so memorable for our campers!

Tomorrow is a Noon Dismissal and OLG Spirit Wear (or uniform!) There is EDC for K-8 from 12- 5pm and no ELC aftercare. Tomorrow our staff professional development focuses on Universal Design for Learning, formation and best practices. We are excited to learn from one another.

Next week, we begin MAP testing on the 1st-8th. Please see information from your homeroom teachers for more information on schedules, etc. Please also remember that your children should be coming to school well-rested, fed, and on-time. Please have them bring healthy lunches and snacks, and water (the only beverage allowed in the classrooms outside of lunchtime). Tests, just like in the fall, are untimed. We encourage all students to do their best!

The remainder of our news today is to highlight the many things to celebrate and share. Tidbits of information that are explained further below. Please take the time to read the newsletter, as many hands go into bringing it to you each week.

Now for the Quick Bits:

  • Thank you to the participants of the Day of Service last weekend. We appreciate all that you did, come rain or shine (for most of you, rain!)
  • Congratulations to the Parent Org for fully-funding the annual required $125k payment! We have a healthy PO budget to start next year. Get a head start on next year's commitment hours and volunteer now!  More on the PO Newsletter. Let's have some fun at Bingo Night May 17th 6pm!
  • Save the date! Preschool to 5th grade, and band and choirs perform at our May 15th Spring Concert (5:30- 6:30). Doors open at 5pm.  Look for more information next week.
  • Career Day is May 16th! We are still looking for speakers. Please contact Ms. Kim if you are interested or know of someone who may be!
  • This Saturday, we will celebrate our 2nd grade class participants who have been preparing for two years for their First Communion. We gather Saturday 5:30 pm, with reception to follow in the gym. Please join us!
With Gratitude,

Ms. Lauren Hobbs

What is the role of the Parish Family liaison?

Steve Donaldson is our Parish Family’s Liaison. He is a Lay Ecclesial Minister hired and trained by the Archdiocese of Seattle to support us as we journey in our new family to become one parish. Steve will use the tools, resources and other guidance to help our parish family navigate how to approach prayer and worship, evangelization,

administration, governance and more in the new configuration — accounting for the gifts and needs of our community. He will also support us in the creation of the One Parish Plan, which will be presented to the Archbishop before becoming one canonical parish. He has already begun to work with us and has recently met with our OLG Leadership Team.

School Fund Drive

Check out the 2023-2024 Annual School Fund Drive Thermometer for the most up-to-date results!

ONLY we all TOGETHER can make this happen! It is not too late!

Show your love for OLG!

We are only at $32,600 for our Annual School Fund...SO CLOSE AND YET SO FAR...

Our annual goal is of 100K, but let's try to reach $40,000!

We have less than 2 months left until the end of the school year and to reach our goal!

While there are many worthy causes, let's not forget the importance of our Annual School Fund, which serves as a vital pillar of support for our school.

Prayers

Our prayers continue for Fr. Kevin. If you would like to send him a card, drop it off at the school or parish office and we will personally deliver them to him.

For Liz Quade and family.

Please keep the Beza family (Enrico 6th grade) in your prayers. More on Caring Bridge. You can also show support through a Go Fund Me created here and shared by request of the family.

Please pray for staff and students who are sick and those that are well, stay well.

We also keep Sandy Plummer and Fr. Jack Walmesley in our prayers.

For our community members whose family members who are fighting cancer and other ailments.

For our neighbors experiencing homelessness. We ask God to help them find shelter and comfort.
