Personal Trainer Highlight: Meet Kris Iliev!

Starting at a young age, Kris explored a multitude of sports and activities, fostering a deep appreciation for the diverse ways the body can move. As an active aerialist, he understands the unique benefits that different forms of exercise bring to the table and the importance of feeling in control of one’s own body.


Transitioning from a sedentary tech job to the dynamic role of a personal trainer marked a transformative period in Kris's life. This personal evolution has granted him unique insights into the challenges people face when establishing a healthy relationship with exercise. As a result, he has a lot of empathy and is passionate about guiding others through this endeavor. He knows firsthand that achieving fitness goals can be a way to build a strong foundation for a healthier and happier life.


Kris' overarching mission is clear: Cultivate a positive, sustainable and enjoyable connection between clients and their well-being. He strives to help people seamlessly integrate fitness into their lives and reach beyond what they might initially think is possible.

Instructor Highlight: Meet Alison Marra!

We are excited to have Alison join our team of instructors. As the former co-owner of the Maven Yoga Studio, she has quite a following and even a touch of celebrity status in the Seattle yoga scene.


With a background in movement as a competitive gymnast and dancer, Alison felt an instant connection to yoga when she discovered the practice during college. She found yoga to be a stimulating and unique form of movement that allowed her to breathe and de-stress.


Seizing the opportunity to enhance her knowledge, Alison earned her Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification in 2007. In 2012, Alison got her E-RYT status and has led several 200-hour yoga teacher trainings.


Building on her yoga background, Alison became a certified personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT) to further her education and expertise. She also earned Barre Method, Indoor Cycling, and Yoga Sculpt certifications along the way.


With a diverse background, Alison combines various fitness modalities to create challenging, effective, and well-rounded classes that leave you feeling accomplished and proud.

Alison teaches Yoga Sculpt on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and HIIT Stretch Fusion on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

Private and Family Swim Lessons!

Our swimming instructors get rave reviews from kids and adults alike. Private and family swim lessons are available for OAC members age two and older. No matter if you are a beginner or more advanced, our awesome instructors can teach you everything you need to get started, learn new strokes, or even prepare for a triathlon.

For family lessons, please sign up for one swimmer and then let Michaela know that you want to add more family members—Mindbody doesn't have an option to add extra people, but she can do it manually.

Mobile Body Composition Testing Truck

Pricing:

  • DEXA Bone Scan $49

The mobile testing truck will be back at OAC on Monday, May 6th from 5-11 a.m.


This is your opportunity to get an accurate body composition reading using a float tank and/or a bone density test via a dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan.


A DEXA scan can tell you about your bone health and risk of fracture due to osteoporosis. It consists of a low-dose x-ray of the wrist and takes less than 10 minutes.

Workshops with OAC Personal Trainers!

Personal Trainer Iris, inviting you to try her Intro to Strength Training Workshop!

Our personal trainers have put together a great set of introductory workshops for May. These workshops are designed to help you learn how to use equipment and get the most out of your time at the gym.


Each workshop is for 45 minutes and is designed to be educational. This means that they are conducted at a slower pace than workout classes and include time for discussion.


Workshops meet in Studio C:

  • Intro to Mobility, Flexibility, and Stretching - Mondays 12:00pm and Wednesdays at 1:00pm w/ Kris
  • Intro to Strength Training - Wednesdays 9:00am w/ Iris
  • Intro to Stability and Balance - Fridays 2:00pm w/ Leilani and Maria
  • Intro to Core Conditioning - Sundays 11:00am w/ Kris, Leilani and Maria
  • Intro to Equipment Orientation - Selectorized resistance (equipment adjusted with a pin or lever) focus - 5/11 w/ Iris and 5/19 w/ Kris 12:00pm
