All Saints' Day is on November 1st  and is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics. This means we get to go to church an extra day this week, specifically to celebrate all of the Saints in the Catholic Church. This year at O'Hara, we have Mass on the actual feast of All Saints' Day, which means our Holy Day of Obligation will be fulfilled by coming to our school Mass.

We invite all parents to come to our school Mass on November 1st.

The All Saints' Day Mass is a special one at O'Hara not only because it is a holy day, but because our 7th graders will dress up as the Saints that they portrayed for their 6th grade Saint project this past spring.  The 7th graders are in charge of this Mass as well, and will be our readers, servers, and gift bearers.

A parent prayer group will meet in the chapel at 8:05am, and all parents are welcome to attend. Mass begins at 8:30am in the O'Hara gym. Again, please join us on this holy day!
Here are a few additional resources about All Saints' Day:

A Prayer for All Saints' Day
Dear holy saints of God,
we join our prayers of praise
to yours this day.
With you, we sing of God's
goodness, rejoice in God's mercy
and celebrate God's
incredible love.
Teach us to live as you lived -
always thinking of others,
always recognizing our weaknesses,
always rejoicing in God's gifts,
always closely following Jesus.
Blessed are you, happy are you,
all you holy saints of God.
Pray for us that we, too, may someday be among
God's Holy Ones.
Amen.

All girls must wear one of the following:
Uniform skirt & white button down shirt
Uniform dress
Uniform jumper with white shirt underneath

Please remember, students will not be permitted to change clothes after Mass. The disruption and delay to our school day caused by the large number of students changing clothes necessitates this rule. Reminders

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences (November 9 & 10)
ALL CONFERENCES SCHEDULED ONLINE - YOUR ACTION IS REQUIRED

We are using the same online scheduler for conferences this year that we used last year. If you should have any questions, please contact Mrs. Whitford in the office. If you have any problems, please let us know.

  • Conferences with Specialists: You are welcome to, but not expected to, sign up for a conference with any specialist teacher your child has.
  • Parents of children Preschool - 2nd grade and 4th grade: sign up for a conference with your child's homeroom teacher.
  • Parents of 3rd graders: Miss Pusateri and Mr. McKinnon will be unavailable during conferences, but will be available at other dates and times.  Please contact them with questions.  You may still meet with specialist teachers on conference days if you would like to.
  • Parents of 5th graders: Please sign up with your child's homeroom teacher. If you would like to schedule with the other teacher as well, you will have that option.
  • Parents of 6th graders: We recommend and request you sign up with two of your child's core teachers (Obersinner, Conway, and in some instances Cosgrove).
  • Parents of 7th and 8th graders: We recommend and request you sign up for conferences with 2 of your child's core teachers (May, Cosgrove, Bloomer, Larson/Conway).  If you need an exception to sign up for additional teachers, please contact Mrs. Whitford in the office.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If your family has chosen to take vacation during the scheduled conference days, please do not request that your child's teacher meet with you at a different time. It becomes very difficult for teachers to accommodate parents and negates the purpose of taking days specifically for conferences.

New families will be asked to create a login (email) and password (one is not provided) and then sign up for each of your children individually.
Returning families will be prompted to enter their email/password from last year.  If you have forgotten your password, please use the "Forgot My Password" button.  If a child does not show up on your screen, you may add them using the boxes in the far right column.

Guest Speaker on November 3
Each year, Marist Campus Ministry sponsors a guest speaker who can bring to their student body - and sometimes to their adult community - a faith perspective that motivates and inspires. This year's speaker is  Roy Petitfils , an internationally known speaker, who joins his private counseling background with his experience in Catholic youth ministry, teaching and administration, and school counseling. Marist has asked him to speak on issues of adolescent mental health - stress, anxiety, depression, life changes, eating disorders, self-harm, and others - with Marist students, student leaders, staff, and parents. They have also extended an invitation to O'Hara parents. Numerous studies have emphasized a growing awareness of mental health issues plaguing teens today, and of the importance of adult support. Therefore, on Thursday evening, November 3, from 7-8pm in the Marist gym,  Roy will be addressing parents to help them consider some of the complexities of raising and caring for teenagers in today's world. Please CLICK HERE to view the informational flyer. Please contact Rick Martin at Marist with any questions: 541-681-5474.
