coffee in the cove with Jimena and Kalifa

allcove Beach Cities welcomes two new members to the team. Meet Jimena and Kalifa. They are joining the allcove team to provide peer support, help with center operations and work with our outreach team. We’re so glad to welcome Jimena and Kalifa to the team!

Jimena:

Favorite Vacation Spot: For me it is hard to choose one vacation spot, I think it depends on the season in which I am traveling but I love tropical places, beaches AND I also love getting to know new cities!

Favorite Trait About Yourself: My favorite trait about myself is my independence.

One talent you have that no one would guess: One talent I have that is not totally guessable is that I am an exceptional cook.

Favorite Snack from the allcove Pantry: My favorite snacks from the pantry are the Goldfish and Baked Ruffles.

What superpower would you have: if I had a superpower, I would love to time travel because I want to live in the 70s.

If you could go back and have another job all together, what would you pick? I've always wanted to be a barista for a cute little coffee shop.

What are you most excited about working at allcove Beach Cities: I am most excited about meeting people and learning from everyone that have achieved the goals I aspire to achieve one day as well!

Kalifa:

Favorite Vacation Spot: My favorite vacation spot as of now is Miami. Once I start traveling more and experiencing different parts of the world, I'm sure I'll have more to add on to the list.

Favorite Trait About Yourself: I'm kindhearted. I love that I'm kind to everyone, and very empathetic. I can help people and feel satisfied if I made a difference in at least one person’s life.

One talent you have that no one would guess: One talent I have that no one would guess is I'm good at almost any sport.

Favorite Snack from the allcove Pantry: My favorite snack from the allcove pantry is the PopCorners chips.

What superpower would you have: I would like to have the power to fly. Just knowing I can get anywhere freely would be great.

If you could go back and have another job all together, what would you pick: I don't think I would go back and have another job. Only because I haven't been in my dream job yet. I love something about every job I had because I feel like each has taught me something. I gained/strengthened a skill of mine through every job I've experienced.

What are you most excited about working at allcove Beach Cities: I'm most excited about getting to know everyone, learning how I can help and advocate for allcove. As well as gaining more experience and knowledge. I'm also looking forward to any outdoor community events I can be a part of and offer my service to.

allcove in the community

covefest

It was an honor to welcome the community to allcove Beach Cities for covefest, the grand opening celebration for the center! Nearly 400 people attended the day of fun, music, tacos, art and ice cream. We were joined by Representative Ted Lieu and Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly Mitchell. There was an inflatable shark to ride, bracelets to make, tours to take and even a sound bath to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so special!

Redondo Beach 10K/5K Health Expo and Race

allcove Beach Cities was at the Redondo Beach 10K/5K Health Expo last month. Along with AdventurePlex and Beach Cities Health District, allcove staff connected with community members, shared services offered in the center and led a community wall activity. We reflected on what we’re proud of was a way to highlight mental wellness and mindfulness. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the day!
