Community Newsletter | November 2022
As a faithful friend and supporter, you are one of the many blessings we give thanks for at Rainbow Days during this season of gratitude. As you read this month's issue of eConnection, we hope you see the many ways your gift is making a difference in children's lives and the exciting opportunities for involvement through the end of the year. From all of us at Rainbow Days, we hope you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Saturday with Santa
For 25 years, Rainbow Days has spread holiday joy and met the tangible needs of homeless children, youth, and parents through our annual Saturday with Santa event. Saturday with Santa is a festive family outing with an outdoor carnival, holiday activities, eating a delicious lunch, and receiving stockings filled with presents.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to spread holiday joy to homeless children and families from our partnering shelter sites at our annual Saturday with Santa event on Saturday, December 10, 2022. There are many ways to be spread joy to those in need this holiday season:

  • Fill a stocking: Sponsor a child to receive a stocking filled with toys, winter wear and holiday treats.
  • Donate a Toy: Donations of toys for children can be purchased via our Amazon Wish List to be shipped directly to Rainbow Days' offices, needed no later than Dec. 5th.
  • Give Christmas Joy: Provide the opportunity for a family of four living in a local homeless shelter to attend a special family outing away from the shelter to make special holiday memories.

For questions, please contact Sunni Roaten, Rainbow Days' Director of Operations & Volunteers, with questions about donating or getting involved with this year's Saturday with Santa!

Family Connection Spotlight:
Blue Cross Blue Shield Beneficiary & Hunger Awareness
  • Our Family Connection team was excited to participate in United Way of Central Texas' Day of Caring at Pepsico, a strategic volunteer program created to help advance the common good on issues of education, income and health!

  • Nov. 12-20 is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Rainbow Days' Project Hope initiative addresses the unmet needs of homeless children and families living in motels across the Dallas community. Each year, Project Hope serves approximately 250 children ages 4-12 through its array of supportive services. Donate now to PROJECT HOPE!
Rainbow Days is thrilled to be this year's beneficiary of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association's Christmas toy drive. We are overjoyed to partner with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas who are providing new toys for the children at our Saturday with Santa event!
Community Connection Spotlight: Healthy Choices & Anti-Bullying Week
In support of Anti-Bullying Week, the Community Connection team shared ways students can take a stand against bullying and to be kind at CF Carr Elementary in Dallas ISD.
Our Community Connection team member, Carolyn Payne, made her way to Richardson High School to host a table with Anita Cepeda, RHS's Intervention Counselor, to celebrate Eagles Soar with Healthy Choices. Students stopped by to pose in front of a decorated pair of wings, inspired by the school's mascot, the Eagles, and their school colors. Red Ribbons were distributed to show unity in making healthy choices and being Red Ribbons.
