Library Services Survey
Checkboxes

The closing of Staples in Greensburg has increased our fax requests by 100%. In addition, the Library has had many requests for services like lamination, color copies, and scanning. Some of these services we already offer. Some we offer in a limited capacity and some we do not offer to the public
at this time.
The Library strives to provide Decatur County with the services that our community needs.
Help us to identify the services that are important to our community with this very short survey. This survey will take you less than two minutes to complete.  Thanks for your input. Feel free to share this link with others or post it to your Facebook page or website. The more input we have, the  better decisions we can make.

From the Desk of
 Andrea Ingmire,
Library Director

The Library is pleased to welcome Tayler Workman to our circulation staff.

Tayler is a recent graduate from Ball State University with a degree in Political Science with a focus in Pre-Law studies and a minor in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Next year, she plans on attending the University of Washington - Seattle to obtain either a masters or law degree. When Tayler is not working at the library, she spends the majority of her time reading and studying for the graduate and law school admission exams. She also enjoys playing with her dog, Sadie, and cooking for friends and family.

November is a wonderful month for authors! Some of our favorite author's birthdays are this month...folks like Marc Brown, C.S. Lewis and Nancy Tafuri.  Perhaps you've heard of some of them; perhaps some of them are new to you. So, let me introduce...

Marc Brown - Marc is the author of the popular Arthur series, and these books are available in children's picture books, in easy read books, and in easy chapter books.  (Arthur is also available in DVD from the popular PBS series.)  Some of our favorite Arthur books include:

Arthur's Jelly Beans
Arthur wins the jelly bean hunt at Muffy's Spring Fling in an unexpected way.

D.W.'s Library Card
D.W. gets her first library card and wants to check out her favorite book with humorous results.

Arthur and the Perfect Brother
Arthur is looking forward to having his friend Brain spend the week-end, but then the Brain shows up and starts to act a
little too much like the
perfect family member.

Another author who writes delightful picture books is:

Nancy Tafuri  Her books include:

The Big Storm: A Very Soggy Counting Book
The Busy Little Squirrel
Whose Chick Are You?
Mama's Little Bear
and a Christmas favorite,
The Donkey's Christmas Song.

Other favorites include:
Blue Goose - When Farmer Grey is away for the day, Blue Goose, Red Hen, Yellow Chick, and White Duck get together and paint their black and white farm.

Will You Be My Friend? A Bunny and Bird Story
Bird comes to feel less shy when Bunny helps her rebuild her ruined nest, showing her what good friends can be.

Many people know
C.S. Lewis
and the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe series. While this book might be the best known, it is actually part of a bigger series. These are the Chronicles of Narnia, listed here in chronological order. This is not the publication order, but rather it is the order in which the events occur.

The Magician's Nephew
In which Jadis the White Witch first comes on the scene, dragging a pair of young friends along for the ride, and Aslan creates Narnia.

The Lion, the Witch,
and the Wardrobe

Four children discover the magical world of Narnia, where the White Witch has ruled wickedly for many years.

The Horse and His Boy
A poor slave boy runs away with the help of a clever talking war horse named Bree.

Prince Caspian, the
Return to Narnia

Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensey return to Narnia to help young Prince Caspian regain his throne from his horrid uncle.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Caspian, now king of Narnia, and the brave mouse Reepicheep sail towards adventure as they look for the seven lost lords of Narnia. Edmund, Lucy, and their obnoxious cousin Eustace get drawn through a magical painting to join the expedition.

The Silver Chair
At Aslan's bidding, Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole must save Prince Rilian from the evil Emerald Witch.

The Last Battle
Two hundred years have passed in Narnian time since The Silver Chair, but in our world it's only been a year. Eustace and Jill must help King Tirian gather his troops together for a final battle that will decide Narnia's fate.

Books from all areas of the Children's Room can be enjoyed, just by thinking of three authors who share a November birthday.

Book Nook is written monthly by Assistant Children's Librarian,
Laura Jo Tebbe.
She can be contacted at ljtebbe@greensburglibrary.org.
